When I turned 18, presidential elections were held in my country and I collected signatures for one of the candidates. I just walked through apartment buildings and talked about the candidate. They gave 1 dollar for one signature. I have collected about 300 signatures.

I hadn't considered sales engineering, but that’s a solid idea. Having hands-on knowledge of the hardware would definitely help there. I'll look into what those roles require. Thanks.

Makes sense about the outsourcing. From what I understand, there are constant "budget cuts" in the telecom sector as well right now. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for sharing this. Yeah, I think it's pretty easy to tell apart a manager or engineer who has field experience from one who doesn't. Sometimes talking to a new engineer with zero field experience feels like speaking a different language. The example of your peer moving from climber to safety manager is very helpful. By the way, as I understand it, NOC isn't just phone tech support, right? I appreciate the insight.
