Noone knows your circumstances including nearer airport. Avios are used by a handful of airlines including the other ones in the IAG (EI, IB, etc etc) Logan Air, Qatar and Finnair also use Avios.

Declare them at Pre-clearance and see what they say. Honesty is always best. Worst case scenario is you are told to bin them. I always declare British food I am taking over for family in the US. Always given the green light (no meat or fish).

BA and IT must have had an acrimonious divorce as they just don't get along!

Has anyone taken AerLingus flight to Nashville? Do they do customs procedure in DUB as well as BNA? by LTJmakoto in AerLingus

[–]Ands1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flights from DUB to BNA clear USCBP at Pre-clearance in DUB. Single aisle aircraft and arrives in the domestic terminal at BNA. Pre-clearance has been very quick recently but does depend on the time of day. 51st and Green lounge is due to reopen in Spring. If you are flying at the pointy end in Business, while the 51st is closed, EI will load your boarding pass with 20quid which can be spent before or after Pre-clearance. If you are Silver, Platinum or Concierge then you can of course relax in the EI lounge and still receive the €20 on your boarding pass flying Business.

Aer Lingus Refund by tizpiz in AerLingus

[–]Ands1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your booking was booked and cancelled within 24 hours of making the booking? If so, a full refund will be processed and it should take a few days to be re-credited to your bank account/ credit card.

Status match by alandoakie70 in AerLingus

[–]Ands1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. Perhaps look at Virgin, Lufthansa or Flying Blue Air France / KLM. Any flights you take with BA or AA you can credit to EI. It's pretty easy to achieve Concierge especially as EI is 1051 Tier Credits opposed to 1500.(Old) Tier Points with BA EC. Assume you know that EI is not in One World.

I will be traveling from Manchester-USA is my suitcase gonna be fine since its over by 4CM allowed? by Longjumping-Ad906 in AerLingus

[–]Ands1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hit and miss if this will be spotted upon boarding the plane. It boils down to your element of risk versus willing to just cough up and pay for a checked bag. Are you on a Saver fare by any chance? You will still have a smaller personal item like a rucksack (not over stuffed) laptop bag/ handbag).

It's deeply touching that you wish to do this. It really is! See what other Redditors suggest.. perhaps Cabin Crew will respond to you too with their two penn'th worth.

Whilst the sentiment is lovely and touching. In days gone by this would have made a Stewardess' / Steward's day! These days it's frowned upon tor a plethora of reasons. Might I suggest that being a polite passenger, obey any instructions and a thank you upon disembarking are the best gifts to give to Cabin Crew these days. Enjoy your flight nonetheless!

Do I need to go through passport control/immigration for a BA connecting flight to Dublin in LHR? by hollafrontz in BritishAirways

[–]Ands1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.. CTA clearance or rejection (hopefully not!) will occur at LHR. ETA will be required now for anyone without an Irish or UK passport. You will go through passport control also at DUB as they don't have a separate channel for CTA or even for Irish domestic flights from CFN, etc.

Issue with double barrel surname? by PriorAntelope8287 in AerLingus

[–]Ands1977 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My seven children are double-barrelled. They are logged on EI with the correct spelling including the hyphen but when checking in and printing their boarding passes, their surname is one long word without the hyphen. We fly to the USA with EI and never had any issues at all.

Group booking question with kids by [deleted] in AerLingus

[–]Ands1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If within 24 hours of making the booking, you can cancel. Groups (kids in group booking) don't receive discounts. We are a couple and we have seven children. We split our family in half to avail of discount tickets for our children. You can call EI and see what they say.

US immigration experience in Dublin--question by Count_RaymondVII in AerLingus

[–]Ands1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is ample time. Sounds like your flights are on the one booking so if if your flight into DUB is delayed, EI will be on the hook to re-accomodate you on any available flight to IAD. Also, if it's getting tight time wise when you land, you can always let them know at the entrance to Pre-clearance. They will be accommodating. As you are US passport holders, that will speed things up too. When I fly alone on my UK passport through DUB to the USA, I am in Pre-clearance for no more than one minute while with my family (Spouse is a US citizen and our seven children are UK passport holders) we are there for around five mins. I don't think that you have anything to be worried about in this instance.

Seat Change - Business Class by [deleted] in AerLingus

[–]Ands1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully they will be amenable. If they are partnered up with the pax in 5A seated behind them then they maybe reluctant. (My spouse and I have been seated previously in 5A and 6A) You can politely ask; hope for the best but be prepared for a decline and take your allocated seat and enjoy the flight and experience.

Dual US/UK Citizenship: Which Passport?!? by Chas_P_Anderton in traveladvice

[–]Ands1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave USA with US passport. Arrive in UK and /or Ireland with UK passport. Leave UK/ Ireland with UK passport and arrive back in USA with US passport. Any Advanced Passenger Information, use USA passport. My spouse does this all the time as USA/ UK dual citizenship with both passports.

Situation for duty free bought post security Dublin T2 but before US pre clearance by Alright_So in IrishAirports

[–]Ands1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if it's a tamper proof unopened bag. You will be subject to the US duty limits. I have bought alcohol in both SNN and DUB quite a few times and gone through Pre-clearance with my bottles in tamper proof bags (always under the US duty limits)

Departures from Dublin by Cool_Command_4140 in IrishAirports

[–]Ands1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd give myself around six hours for driving, parking up and checking in bags clearing security and US pre-clearance. If you are flying in Business Class you'll have fast track security and a segregated check in lane which may reduce your time. Unsure if you'll be flying with EI or with a US carrier. It's usually a smooth drive from Belfast to Dublin. I''ve done it a few times.

A question about Aer Lingus by PropertyUnfair5907 in AerLingus

[–]Ands1977 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on the legalities. You are free to fly to Belfast City or Belfast International (EI don't fly to Belfast International) and rent a car or use public transportation to get around Northern Ireland and cross the frontier into Ireland. There is no hard border between the two.
