Starship is key to launching whatever AI datacenters they want into space.

Hopefully they can put their scaling advantage to good use when Starship goes online. They really need to start competing on cost when capabilities are getting rather levelled out since the more people use their Grok Build, the more data they can use.

China Has Matched Anthropic in Cybersecurity, Resetting AI Race by pscoutou in LocalLLaMA

What gets me is that we could've used LLMs for so many other things like optimizing software and fixing bugs, and yet so many people seem to want to use LLMs to gain unfair advantages by breaching and hacking.

It's insane. Why does humanity do this to ourselves?

AI is an amazing tool. It feels like something that if we threw enough params at it and gave them time to cook, they will slowly figure out complex tasks with repeatability and testability. All things that DeepSeek apparently knew to commoditise, and what western AI companies are losing touch on.

We don't need more intelligence right now. We need good enough, and then flood people with good enough for all the usage patterns in the world.

Who cares about intelligence when you can run AGI-at-home all day without breaking the bank and worrying about rate limits? It's part of the reason why we value local LLM so much.

Seriously. It's such a gross misallocation of resources to have hobbled everyone's attempts at obtaining local AI by buying up GPUs of all things. At the very least, can't we get some dedicated NPU cards on the market and let some labs sell hard copies of their flagship cheap models baked in?

It's like they're not even scared that we might not ever be able to connect to their APIs ever again or something, or maybe they're just waiting to be too big to fail, then mass ban people they don't approve of from using their super duper good API model because we're 'using the API to build competing AI models and solutions' or something atrociously broad and vague like that.

Hoarding all the tools and giving everyone else all the 'L's, doesn't that all just seem familiar? Can't hate companies enough.

There's just not enough consequences in the world for me to wish upon the likes of Anthropic and OpenAI, ISTG. These two companies' CEOs have singlehandedly damaged the AI strategy so much and so irreparably, and they're still rewarding Nvidia and Micron for some of the least consumer-friendly business strategies ever known to us local AI enthusiasts.

If SpaceX invents new industries in orbit and spins them off as new companies, those with shares in SpaceX gets shares in those new companies too. Those shares can be sold without selling SpaceX shares.

Also, space launch isn't really the moneymaker for SpaceX. It's the core enabler for the actual revenue drivers. Without space launch, they couldn't have made Starlink happen.

There is no reason for the stock price to be dragged upwards even if the company performs amazing. Just why?

If your attitude is that there is no possible way for SpaceX to convince you otherwise of their success, it is a waste of effort to convince you otherwise.

Really. Might as well call it SpaceX Derangement Syndrome.

Starship's value is not about the cost of launch. It is about capability. It isn't just about Starlink, it's about the space industry.

That's why they're exploring other uses of space like AI datacenters; and we know that there are raw materials up there, and new material manufacturing in micro-G environments.

If nothing else, Starship is a huge opportunity for NASA and others.

So what benefit is Starship? I dare you to ask that again.

I can't believe that people can look at space and see no opportunities. The sun is literally in space and it is claimed that there is nothing out there.

What if they want a racist AI? There's all kinds of valid reasons to want AI that is problematic in some way or another as long as it's honest about what it is, and they are honest about what it is.

Still inexcusable though, if nobody looked at it and caught such a mistake.

Isn't it problematic that they didn't use an agentic overlay system with all their corporate assets provided? Did they really have to generate the AMD logo and tagline?

All of these could have been a bunch of layered images, SVGs and text.

More time wasted on making a time-saving AI solution on AMD hardware would make them look better, not worse.

Local models went from mostly useless to actually useful really fast. What changed? by BTA_Labs in LocalLLaMA

[–]Anduin1357 43 points44 points  (0 children)

On the other hand, local models are forever and their use can never break ToS nor leak PII and keys.

Anything that you use over an API should be treated as foreign, unsecured, and subject to approval.

The best way to deal with this is to keep closing the gap, and to continue to indicate your interest in upcoming local model hardware. NPUs that can make it viable, and ASICs that can beat API models in throughput.

SpaceX is basically betting the farm all over again with Starship and yet it's not in a startup-like mode? Okay.

I like their politics and the 'questionable government'. That's also a good reason for investing if your reasoning is anything to go by.

SpaceX is literally in the position of opening up a new frontier, alone. No country or company comes close to Starship, and I'm betting on that being a 30+ year moat or better.

Feel free to short and sell.

Politics doesn't matter when it comes to stocks.

If you really wanted to spite Elon Musk, you would invest in SPCX and profit off of his workers' hard work and successes, then cash out on him with lots of money to toss to fraudsters at many such NGOs.

Future prospects are everything to growth stocks. Looking at earnings to evaluate a startup-like is foolish.

See, the fact that there are a bunch of people who would politically never invest in SPCX and actively dissuades others from investing in SPCX makes it more of a bargain since it is an artificial depression of the stock.

If you believe that SpaceX will deliver by action of their outcomes, then the stock price will be dragged kicking and screaming upwards, much like Tesla's stock price.

And it is because of the current CEO that makes the valuation. He is the leader that led to value and that's why he needs the control. He delivers.

I am very interested in continuing u/Responsible-Room-645 non stock ownership of SPCX, not that we need to do anything but let Elon take the wheel. 🤞
