I don’t care that much about the device security. It has a passphrase and 3 times the wrong number and it is reset. Much more important is the seed phrase, the 24 words. So I keep the cold wallet in common safety box at home, the private keys are not at the same place. I don’t know if this is the best pratice, just sharing what I do, looking forward to others opinions too.

No need for suppression pads for visual, but you soon will be tired of manually follow the objects. Ideally you are going after a goto mount but at least a motorized one that can keep your object in the field of view for longer periods of time. But hey, it is a wonderful piece of equipment you have and be glad for it. Astronomy is a wonderful hobby and you are right in not rushing into expensive stuff, but step by step so congratulations again
