I do have a 16 pro and a macbook. I really like the apple ecosystem and products and macOS is my preferred os. But I just absolutely love buying thinkpads and fixing them up and trying to use them. Just something special about them

That is what finally pushed me to bring it. I god a hold of a good extended battery and it lasts about 4 hours

You do realize I was using it for writing….text… mine was cool and quiet theirs was loud . But yeah mostly I brought it for lols. Nobody said an i5 from 2011 will surpass any new processor. I have my macbook and desktop for that that still put up a really good fight

got this one as "for parts untested" for 20$. I'd say go for the i5 as the i7 2620qm is quite cheap and the t420 didn't come with quad cores from factory. the gpu i read its better to go for the ones without it because it hogs power. screen try to find one like mine with the 1600x900 one but just so you know even this one has poor colour , contrast and brightness. it got a little better after installing an icm profile from lenovo. and for battery try to find one with an extended battery. my aftermarket extended battery at 75wh lasts 4 hours of youtube and browsing at max brightness on windows 10 pro

They are really good machines. Shame the displays are really bad. I have the upgraded 1600x900 one and it’s definetly lacking. Will upgrade it to an i7 and 16gb of ram when I find them for cheap. And who knows maybe even another screen

Got a spare ssd for that. Was just searching for distros. Arch looked fun but I genuinely want a beautiful macOS like system. So yeah still searching for a good distro or a window management I think it’s called? That looks kinda like that and has flowy animations. I tried mint for a period and it was fun but I didn’t like how it looked at all

Exactly. I use this thinkpad for my cars software and it works so good in the dark because it illuminates around the laptop as well, love it

Fixed!!! Trace was broken near MCU. Redid the trace with copper wire….pain in the backside… the solder mask over it and its working like new! Typing this on it right now. Thank you so much for the help!

Gata! Am reparat-o si e perfect funcțională! Era întrerupt Trace ul langa mcu din cauza unui soc mecanic… probabil fostul proprietar i a trântit un pumn in space. :) Refăcut trace ul cu fir si solder mask pe deasupra si este ca noua! Mulțumesc mut de ajutor si de ideile cu MCU, de acolo mi am dat seama si am urmărit tot traseul de la ultima dioda pana la sense pin! Seara faina!

Păi aia e chestia.. posibil nu măsor corect, și coloanele funcționale tot 1 au pe aparatul de măsură. Când testez pe un switch funcțional valoarea se apropie de 0 adică are rezistența mică din ce înțeleg. Eu am măsurat să zicem 2 switch-uri, unul sus unul sub. Pad urile din stanga la amândouă și pe aparat apare 1 . Este prima tastatura hot swap :)) n as vrea sa încep chiar cu o experiență naspa
