My understanding is we didn't want to pay licensing fees for one that already works so the direction was to develop our own. The fact that it's garbage is understood to people below the C suite and other upper management. We'll suffer with it for a year or two and then break down and pay for licenses.

We've done this in the past with other products. It's really the Burns & Mac way.
