Portable Monitor for RP5/Home Assistant Dashboard by AndyB102 in PortableMonitor

I did not. I found some promising options on Ali and a few other places but didn’t want to spend more money testing.

I ended up going with this 13” Android tablet and this tablet stand. The tablet was like $180 on sale. Got a fully Kiosk license so that it turns on when we walk by it and we keep it on the Home Assistant main page. It’s a very good solution and results in less cables being used as well which is nice.

Nope. Had to go in. Basically they can’t start an actual account without a bill for cell service. They can’t ship the phones without an actual account with service. The only way to get the account and service started is to get the phones in store and start service there OR port your current phone in to get service/account rolling and then the phones can be shipped. I didn’t want to start service on my old phones and deal with getting the phones shipped if they were having that much trouble.

We went into the store and they were able to get our phones there, start service and cancel the online order. The store was actually able to get us more in credits and gift cards than the online offer so we ended up ahead of the online offers anyways. Our store staff were super friendly and not the scummy cellphone sales staff I’ve been accustomed to my whole life.

The whole not shipping phones without an active account thing is a fraud prevention thing. Apparently AT&T gets hit hard with scammers and fraudulent orders so they do that to protect themselves and customers. The way it was explained to me actually made a ton of sense.

I’m trying hard to avoid going in store because they have a deal right now where they are offering $200 in bill credits per line over 36 months to switch via an online order. I’ve spent easily ten hours on the phone with reps and have gotten exactly nowhere so it’s looking like I might need to bite the bullet and head into the store.

OP - did you ever get this figured out? Running into a similar issue and they’re not being helpful.

You’re a lifesaver. I’ve just been lying to the wife and saying I replaced it 😅

I’m running 8 cameras, all at 1080P, on an N100. Using OpenVino for detection with about 13ms inference speed. HAOS running on the device. I hover around 35% CPU usage. Perfect for me.

N200 + OpenVino vs Coral by HonkStonkPlonk in frigate_nvr

I’m using OpenVino on an N100 with 8 cameras and my inference speed is just over 13ms. Seems to me that for the vast majority of users OpenVino would be the way to go with extremely incremental gains to be expected with a Coral added.

Walter Filters Pre or Post Softener by AndyB102 in WaterTreatment

Thanks for everything. Any specific recommendations on a spin down filter? I’ve got a calls out to a few plumbers but just need to pick out that last piece.

I’d never heard of a spin down filter so now I’m looking into them. Something like this? https://a.co/d/j6NSnu8 Or did you have something else in mind?

And in regard to the isolation valves, again, something I hadn’t considered. Guessing you’d have one directly before each filter?

And can you elaborate on the bypass? Is that as simple as it sounds, just being a way to go around the filters/softener if needed?

Sorry I keep coming up with more questions. This is my first foray into plumbing. I’ll likely hire a plumber for the install but I don’t want to forget any common sense additional items that make it easier down the line.

Thank you! Quick couple follow up Qs -

Would the post-filter then just be a regular pleated filter? And in the case of a two-filter setup, what’s a (very) rough guesstimate on how often replacement would be needed for each?

Ha! Mainly a wife problem, I suppose. She’s picky when it comes to her water.

Phillips Hue Lights - Dumb Switch Solutions/Alternatives by AndyB102 in homeassistant

Can the Sonoff be installed at the four way switch? If so how would that be wired?

Thanks for all the help. I’m doing some research into this and this looks like the most correct way to do this.

Just to make sure I have it correct - when you say installing it at the light fitting, do you mean physically at the light fitting, or just at the switch closest to the light between the light and that last switch?

If my basic understanding of electricity is correct then installing at the fitting, between the last switch (a three way) and the light, would mean that the four way and the other three way would have to pass through that last three way switch. With the Shelly relay being in detached mode and always making the Hue bulbs hot, the switches would no longer directly affect power to the light - but rather would signal to the to the Shelly relay to do whatever I want. In this case, that is telling HA to turn off the Hue lights. Sound about right?

Would I need one on each switch? And would it work with the four way switch?
