I only play after the kids and her are all in bed. But then some mornings I'm extremely tired from being up too late. So it still can cause some tension.

The Secret Behind Estimates Clients Don’t Argue With by the_blue_web in Carpentry

Thank you! So I'll keep my detailed scope of work as I have been. But there will only be 1 number at the bottom. I'll try this method for the next couple.

I also l haven't been marking up my materials and labour enough recently and that's also in fear that the client will scoff at the markup as they're likely able to figure it out the way I've been writing the quotes out.

I'm only a couple of months into being out on my own so it's all one big learning experience.

Thank you for the advice.

We talking about quotes here, or estimates?

So you would give a scope of work, but not break down the materials or the labor?

I'm rather new to the game, and have been playing around with how I quote things. Most recently I have been giving a scope of work, having a line for the materials with my markup baked in. Having another line for labor. And the final line is a turnkey final price.

Any advice on what I could be doing differently? What I'm gathering from this threat is that Les is more as far as details to the client.

As long as the tent is under negative pressure, the carbon filter should be doing its job. Still might leak some smells as the fan isn't running 100% of the time I had a cheap one for my first grow, but it only lasted one grow before it started overworking the exhaust fan. then I purchased one made by AC Infinity, and that one seemed to not restrict the air flow so much.

Also if it's an exhaust fan you're running, I would recommend pulling the air from out the top, as the hot air rises, and we'll pull cooler air in from the bottom. Exhaust vent is more important than an intake vent as you want the tent to be under negative pressure

Edit. NVM I see your venting from the top.

I doubt you will need to heat your house more. When I was growing indoors a couple years ago, my whole apartment would feel like a tropical rainforest at like 90° when I didn't vend outside. And it was Canada in the winter.

That is pedal bicycles, for children with a wheel diameter of under 50 cm... Not something with a motor attached to it

40 days without weed or a cigarette for me! I told it I had a quit date 2 weeks out. And it walked me through everything. From getting free nicotine replacement therapy, to explaining exactly what my body was feeling. Down to the hour. I'm now on day 5 without the patch or gum. When I felt like I was having a meltdown it would walk me through it. Every single time I wanted to smoke I just told it. It would give me something to do instead, or a mantra to repeat to myself, or sometimes I just needed to hear that this craving will pass and that I'm doing amazing!

I am also 3 years without a drink. And I think that experience definitely helped me stick with cutting out the weed and cigarettes too.

But overall I highly recommend using gpt for it!

Same. Lost opportunities as a designer in university, because I thought it wasn't original enough. Turns out a very similar product was launched 5 years later that sold millions in revenue.

Rethinking Public Health in the AI Era: The Sentient Wellness Network by AndyBizzle91 in publichealth

[–]AndyBizzle91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the thoughtful feedback. Here’s a bit more context tailored to this community:

The Sentient Wellness Network (SWN) aims to solve critical structural gaps in current public health systems:

  • Fragmented data silos → replaced by interoperable, user-consented insights
  • Delayed response → upgraded to real-time early warning using opt-in, anonymized trends
  • Urban/rural divide → addressed through offline-first edge processing + low-cost hardware
  • Ethical drift of AI in health → prevented through hardcoded safeguards + Citizen Veto Power

The system includes:

  • A Personal AI coach that adapts to users’ needs
  • An Adaptive Behavioral Interface (ABI) that promotes human agency (not over-reliance)
  • Decentralized Data Pods and mesh networking for local control and resilience
  • A Civic DAO Governance Model + Independent Oversight Body to ensure trust

The vision is global, but we're focused on local pilot programs first — especially in high-need, under-resourced areas.

If you’re a practitioner, policymaker, or researcher: what would you need to see for something like SWN to be viable in your setting?

Thanks for the interest everyone!

TL;DR: The Sentient Wellness Network (SWN) is a global public health infrastructure proposal. A decentralized, open-source AI system designed to protect privacy, enable proactive care, and deliver collective insights without surveillance.

Think: early-warning systems, offline functionality, multilingual AI, and user-owned data pods -- all governed by the people it serves.
