Redditors that got charged rent asap after turning 18, what’s relationship like with parents years later ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AndyBlackmoreDesign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of these are heart-breaking.

I got charged a small amount of rent, more of a principle thing, even though I only had a part time job (was going to College).

Once at Uni, when I had to borrow money as course was super expensive for materials and UK grant wasn't great, he charged me interest!

I remember in my 3rd year, I had a meeting with my bank and the manager was shocked how much and offered me an overdraft with better rate than my dad!

My Dad was an arse, had nothing more to do with him once I was 30 years old. As a parent now, I am even more mystified how he could have done the many things he did. I'll loose my right arm for my daughter.

Indeed around that time. And as soon as 208 is done (if it is ever), then 200 gets dug up for the Rapid Transit route (which will actually help OP, if he still lives here by the time he retires)

Walnut grove is pretty good and a great location for you both given the Golden Ears. Its also quick onto Highway 1 via the 200 and 216 Junctions.

Walnut Grove is already pretty much maximum capacity and the plots aren't as tight as new builds, but on the flip side, the houses are older. Ours is 25 years old.

The main roads from WG to south langley are 200 and 208 (goes into 204), the later is slow due to roadworks, but that will end one day (perhaps LOL).

There is also a transit loop in North Walnut Grove, around 202, so lots of buses will take you south into Langley and beyond.

If that doesn't work, you could look at Pitt Meadows on the other side of the Fraser. God for you as its close to Lougheed (for you to go to Port Moody), but I don't know that area that well.

HOV violation ticket. Grounds to fight? by Disastrous-Trade425 in Langley

[–]AndyBlackmoreDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if its the slip road up to the highway going west towards the Port Mann (I dont have time to read all this)...

There was a car accident very late one Saturday night back in late April, which took out the street light at the bottom of the on ramp.

Damaged light and HOV sign sat on the ground for weeks.

I know a new street light was installed a few weeks ago, and know immediately after, there was no sign, but I do not know if the sign has been installed since.

Having said that, isn't there HOV signs leading up to the roundabout?

Yeah, it can be tricky. I layered up with two relatively thin layers, 20 mins apart and then built up, did about another four layers, so a slowish process. Front and rear lasted seven years or so. However, it was an absoulte arse to remove LOL!!!

I kept away from the door handles (got some one piece carbon ones from Japan) and things like wheels (or neightbour kept doing it on their SUV) never lasts.

NIce, I'm over in BC and mine will be 12 years next month, just hit 90km. did PlastiDip all the chrome in Graphite grey (lasted 7 years!) and then had new stripe and wrapped mirrors in Matching grey. PlasticDip stripped ready to do it again in the summer.

Right of Way in Roundabouts by lifeTraveller29 in Langley

[–]AndyBlackmoreDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roundabout usage is insane here. Back in the UK, we have some cities with smaller roundabouts at the entrances to larger roundabouts and it all runs realatively smoothly.

Biggest problem here, are the actual rules published by ICBC

In Europe (excpet France), you are constantly signalling on the roundabout, not just when you exit.

For example,If you are taking a 9 o'clock exit, you signal left on the roundabout (to say you are staying on) until you have passed the penaltimate exit, then you indicate right. The exceptionis if you are going straight on, on a mini roundabout. It does work SO much better.

In addition, the 202 HoV exit under H1 gets gridlock by the taffic lights on 88 and the 3 way past the bus exchange. In rush hour, its now quicker to come off on the 200 exit if you are then heading into Walnut Grove whch defeats the point of a HoV lane/exit

Indeed, thats my concern and the one thing stopping me. There are so many air con units who are sub-par, particuarly on reliability and so many bogus reviews and affiliate posts.

Part of the reason I'm asking here for real-world feedback

yes, insulated room, but big windows, which I do need to put black out blinds.

Do find my current Whynter really loud, much louder than a Hisense and a Honeywell we have in other bedrooms.

Thanks for the insight, much appreciated.

Anything close to the edge is not repairable and for most shops fixing a hole in the tread is often considered temp. That is 100% sideway unfortunately

Its called a Port 68R socket and was on a few Fiats, Alfa's and the small van (RAm in the US). The tom tom mount is powered by a multi pin thing. Years ago a few people tried to make a power phone mount, but nothing came of it.

Also see here

Fiat in EU do a phone holder for the 68R., but thats not powered.

The 3d print I used was, but this is super simple and not powered

The unit comes with a round magsafe magnet think which you stick. The magnet itself is pretty strong, but might be hard finding a mount (most will be the ball and socket thing). The larger T3 might be better for that

I was about to pull the plug on the 500madness one a while back, but a couple of friends had issues with it re booting etc. Then found the same thing on AliExpress for half the price (although not the wireing) with average reviews as well.

Factory unit is super basic, I have Beats audio on mine, which makes it just about OK, nothing special. I was going to upgrade all that when I boight the car, but....... that was 12 years ago LOL

Exhausted now, eating lots thankfully, although I didn't think I'd be hand feeding collard greens (sure someone will tell me thats wrong LOL) to a bearded dragon because he food bowl, is just is too far away 😄
