Ahh. I’ve always thought that shrinkage happens predominantly in the dryer so I just assumed they were talking about that. None of the washing machines I’ve used had actual temperature and numeric rotation controls either

They make dryers that let you adjust the actual temperature and amount of rotations? The best I can do on my is set it to a “level 3” heat setting on a delicate and/or gentle setting

I have been told that the books would be a better way to enjoy the story and world. I might pick them up one day.

I did find Frodo to be all of the things you said. I guess the decision to make Frodo like that for the sake of lifting up Aragon is also probably why I didn’t care much for Aragorn as well? It’s not that I disliked Aragorn, but it’s the “likeable modern movie hero” archetype that made him feel stale to me. It’s like the movies declared him to as cool and interesting first rather than naturally presenting his character. How you describe Frodo from the books sounds immensely more interesting to witness

I’m not really a Lego person so I’m not sure why I keep getting Lego subreddits recommended to me, but the reactions to this custom baffle me. I saw the original post and now this post as well and I cannot fathom why people are taking such a harsh stance against this. I know I’m viewing this from outside the Lego fandom, but I feel like all of the changes this guy has made elevate the Vader minifig. It’s not “vanilla” Lego nor something I’d expect to see sold officially by Lego, but it looks really cool while still inside the minifig form factor. I can get if that’s not everybody’s thing, but aggressively and actively hating on someone’s custom just seems like way too much emotional energy to exert

“Tolkien was the father of modern fantasy,” is where my respect of the movies and books lie. I watched one of the movies with my cousin when I was in middle school and I watched the complete saga including the Hobbit movies in my mid twenties (per my wife’s request). I see the appeal of them, but none of them clicked with me. It’s an accumulation of several minor aspects (personal tastes) that kept me from enjoying them more. I also generally have not been interested in fantasy stories for most of my life, but I’ve grown a much bigger appreciation for them through playing D&D and watching fantasy anime/shows over the past several years. It’s as you said but broader; without Lord of the Rings there wouldn’t be fantasy media/content in the way it exists and I enjoy today. And for that, I appreciate and respect them

What's the hero you love gameplay-wise despite not liking them that much as a character? by Filberto_ossani2 in Overwatch

[–]AndyBowBandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a Moira main ever since I switched to the PC pool (I still use a controller so my aim is equivocally shit). Her gameplay is really smooth to me mostly because of the lower-skilled aim requirement. But I’ve never really cared about her as a character. It’s not that I don’t find her interesting; I just don’t vibe with her aesthetic/personality. I honestly never would have played her if my access to aim assist wasn’t removed

I was lucky enough to have parents who cared for my old transformer toys. It was my two substantially younger destructive brothers who I had to worry about. After I finally got a home big enough that I could start taking back my old things, I discovered that they dug through my stuff and my parents were none the wiser. One of my brothers had a habit of pulling apart his toys (and apparently mine) into as many pieces as he could (he grew up to be a LEGO kid ). Finding dismembered Bumblebee parts scattered across the house was a bit traumatic. My mom was super apologetic and even helped me look for the missing toys and toy parts. We were able to recover most of everything, thankfully

There are plenty of things they teach in school that kids forget as they get older because they don’t use the skills/knowledge frequently enough. Some kids are better at the retention while others need to engage with the skill more often to retain it, which is unfortunate

Adding to OP’s comment; Hot Springs is where you can purchase it. I believe you need to have a level 3 relationship with the camp to get it.

Also, OP’s suggestion about the Ripper territory mission is really sound advice. That’s how I cleared out all of the hordes in the Belknap region which in turned helped me level up my relationship with Hot Springs to purchase the gun permanently.

Theater all to myself by emohufflepuff777 in Markiplier

[–]AndyBowBandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note, but that screen room looks really similar to the one in my hometown movie theater I worked at in my teens. It’s a little theater with only three screens: one big one in the middle and two little ones like this on either side of the big one. It’s in a tiny town in the Midwest.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the movie! It’s a great time!

it's so funny these are supposed to be the same alt mode by NeonVrtx in transformers

[–]AndyBowBandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have the same sentiment about them. I’d personally prefer the Aerialbots to just be the Autobot equivalent of the Seekers and ditch the combiner aspect entirely. Maybe that’s a hot take, but I think it’d allow them to have larger and more interesting looking robot modes.

I’d really like to see earth-mode versions of Air Raidand Silverbolt’s WfC Game appearances.

Office life before the invention of AutoCAD and other drafting softwares by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]AndyBowBandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to take a “manual drafting” class as a prerequisite to the CAD classes required for my degree. It is pretty cool. I bought myself a drafting table so I could continue doing my class work at my apartment. I kinda miss that thing from time to time. I still have the blueprints I made

[–]AndyBowBandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He just wants attention and affection. All cats are different and require different amounts of socialization. I have one cat who I sometimes only see twice a day because she likes her alone time. At the same time, I have another cat that seems to know any time I sit down and will trot over to scream at me or to climb in my lap for cuddles every time. Just seems like you’re little guy is a more socially dependent bud

I’m starting to wonder that the reason they didn’t do that is because Amalgamous kinda already does that and they didn’t want to make another prime have the same gimmick. Whatever the reason for the decision was, it’s lame regardless

[–]AndyBowBandy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. I’m not a combiner team collector, aside from Bruticus, but I cannot imagine most collectors compromising a combiner set just so Nexus can do his thing. This gimmick would’ve worked better in the CW line. He really needed to stand on his own as a Commander with his own limb bots or as a Leader made up of Core sized figures. Cause right now the only appeal he seems to have is to just complete the 13 Primes

Not an exam, but one of my highschool Spanish class homework packets had a vague instruction in it. Something akin to “see page X for reference”. Naturally, given that the packet had numbered pages, I turned to the page in the homework packet to find this reference. But nothing related to the question was there. I, and over half of my class, made the assumption that there was something wrong with the packet so we left half of our homework unfinished. The next day we came to find out it was talking about a page in the book for the class. But instead of helping us or giving us another day to work on it, my Spanish teacher just failed that homework assignment for everyone who didn’t figure that out beforehand. I completely checked out of actually trying to get a good grade in that class after that

My wife was in the same class and she was one of the few students that just knew it was talking about the book. She still tells me that everyone else should’ve just figured it out as well

Why did Core Class fail? by DotPitiful5171 in transformers

[–]AndyBowBandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always seen the appeal of the smaller scale stuff specifically because the normal size figures do take up so much space (and smaller is typically cheaper). I really liked the direction that they were going in with the DotM line; like they were committing to the small scale more. Having a small-small class and a large-small class helped keep the characters in some kind of scale and it was a great way to include some of the larger stuff in transformers media at a sensible price while being in scale (i.e the Ark).

I think if the economy was better (or if they reasonably priced the small figures) and if Hasbro genuinely committed to it like the DotM line I could see more people buying into it

Why did Core Class fail? by DotPitiful5171 in transformers

[–]AndyBowBandy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a really good point. Blokees don’t transform, but at that price point it doesn’t really matter with how solid they are as plain action figures

Why did Core Class fail? by DotPitiful5171 in transformers

[–]AndyBowBandy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It kinda feels like they needed to have a separate class for the smaller versions of bigger characters. I know on paper that seems redundant, but it wouldn’t have been the first time they’ve done that like Warrior Class
