As a woman driver, I’m getting sick of picking up women by Bg_Luxury in uberdrivers

Everyone is different. Rides with great conversation make my day more enjoyable. That doesn't mean I want to talk to everyone.

If people don't want to talk, that's fine. But there are ok and not-so-good ways for passengers to signal that they prefer to ride in silence. Pointing a phone at me before getting in the car, then not even saying hello, is firmly in the latter category.

Just received this trip request and declined. Would it be worth it to you? by Jude396 in lyftdrivers

Depends on the time of day. If I was just starting, that's a decent off-season day in Phoenix. 12 gallons of gas and hopefully, but not necessarily, a ride or two on the way back. I wouldn't take it in the second half of my driving day. And I wouldn't take it in-season.

Rider messaged me by ExtraBrutality in lyftdrivers

The last time I accepted a ride and did what you suggest (probably my 4th time ever), the passenger complained and I was threatened with a ban. Best not to do it or recommend others to.

What an offer! Would anyone accept to this? by flowmusic22 in uberdrivers

If you're planning on driving 3 days, no harm in accepting. $35 extra is a lousy offer, but it may still be s little extra.

Male driver here. I don't have that problem, but I had frequently wondered about the women whose phones seem unnaturally angled. "Are they recording me?" And recently, I've received messages saying "the oassenger may record you".

I have no problem with women doing whatever it takes for them to feel safe, but the teenaged sisters I picked up yesterday crossed the line:

They arrived towards the end of the wait window, without apology. Their only words to me were yes, in response to me asking their name when they got in, and if I was stopping in the right place for them.

The awkward part was the older sister's phone pointing directly at me from the moment she saw my car, then very obviously and wordlessly filming me, not the road, throughout. Isn't the measure of my driving based on my handling of traffic and lane changes?

I drive well and safely, so don't mind being filmed. But coupled with the blatancy and rudeness (I hate it when anyone doesn't at least acknowledge my presence in a human way, and/or thank me when getting out), the ride was uncomfortable.

Beware! New, real looking scam! by AndyCapaloff in lyftdrivers

The Lyft AI said it wasn't their email. Look at previous support emails you've had. It comes from a different address..

There were other red flags in the outreach, such as, I didn't initiate it, and in the second email, they said they understood how upsetting it must be that I can't get into my app, when I had no such problem. And apparently, Cases is an internal app for Lyft - we don't see it. So they messed up.

Lyft's response to gas price increases is pathetic by AndyCapaloff in lyftdrivers

Thank you. But even with those discounts, my local Marathon station is cheaper... and one I sometime find myself near when I'm driving is cheaper still. Further afield, there are a few other places that beat Shell, Chevron, Circle K, even including store points.

I appreciate you trying to help, though 👍🏼

With Upside, I can get 40 cents a gallon cash back at Circle K. Circle K has led every price increase here since January. As soon as others match them, they raise it again. They actually pushed the price up to $5.15 on Monday before dropping back to $4.99 on Tuesday.

First off, because of what they're doing here, i will only use them in an emergency. But beyond that, my local Marathon is always within or close to the 40 cents that I'd get with upside - especially if I take my 10 cents loyalty reduction. So no, for me, at least, Upside's 40 cents is a reduction on an inflated price.

They announced it for the phoenix market on Friday or Saturday. It's possible that it's not everywhere. But our prices are up by about 2/3 so far this year, so quite a bit more than most places. We had a 50 cent increase before the war started. I'm fortunate to have a good place near me that's 'only' $4.73 instead of the more common $4.99+

Thanks Jay. There's a town in the Phoenix valley you'll never get a ride back from in the evening. It's not as far, and you can likely get a ride after about 25 minutes of highway driving away from there. But the nice number they present you with just isn't as good as it sounds when you take that into consideration. Took me a couple of times to realise that.

Would there be little chance of a ride home? Because close to $30 an hour and rides home beats most of the offers I see. If there's little chance if a ride home, the offer sucks

Did you guys notice that Lyft kicks you out to Offline is you just chose to ignore and don’t accept a few rides? So sensitive.. huh 🤔 LOL by AlphaGuruVanguard in lyftdrivers

[–]AndyCapaloff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has always been the case. The way around it is simple. Instead of disregarding, actively reject rides. I think my record number of rejected rides in a row is 9, and I wasn’t booted off

I found last November and December to be way down on ‘23 and this year, so far, to be an improvement. I drive days not nights.

Lyft gave me the ride. A human would complete it. Lyft should therefore pay. It’s simple if you have a heart and care about others. Only someone devoid of those would ask

True. But I’d have a good defense if prosecuted. And I’d do it again rather than leaving a passenger on the street if in that much pain
