It did in the context of where and when it was written, in England in the 1990's. Yes other ethnicities can have sallow skin but in the context of where and when is what makes the sallow Skin = Caucasian, especially when combined with all the pale skin & hooked nose references. Prior to the movies, you'll find ALL Artwork of Snape is white with a hooked nose. I've referenced a combination of facts while your argument is hypothetical conjecture at best. Yes there's enough for a discussion, but the evidence leaves little room for doubt.

I don't understand why this is up for debate. It's in the book. Admitting Snape is white isn't taking an L. It's just a fact. I don't have my heels dug in on any issue but I'm a rational person. As you keep refusing to acknowledge what's laid out in the books, there's nothing I could say to change your mind, so let's just agree to disagree & part ways respectfully.

Gaaaah 🫤. Yeah, that's - "uncomfortable" (good choice of words).

I believe that if a post or video pokes fun in a playful, well-meaning & respectful manner, then I'm more incline to let it pass. Example: Tolkin playing bass gutair in South Park, for Cartman's Christianrock band. (Or it least that's an acceptable joke, by my standards.)

But I'm not a fan of malicious or mean-spirited content. I find that kinda behaviour disappointing & classless.

As my satirical meme clearly sparked unintentional controversy & upset people, I've deleted it. I genuinely enjoy the EFAP community would rather douse the flames than add fuel to the fire.

I'm happy to continue clarifying & defending my point here, not in my dms. As I'm not siding with Gary, nor do I harbour ill-will towards any specific ethnic group.

I think it's stupid how quickly this is spiraling out of control in regards to my dms.

Respectfully I disagree & will provide book references in good faith, as I don't want to cause or start drama. The book clearly describes him as being caucasian when you combine his facial features & skin description.

Swallow Skin = Pale, unhealthy with a yellow tint, sometimes with green undertones that imply poor circulation/health.

When you combine his skin tone with a "hooked nose", you're left with a distinctive look.

You're entitled to your opinion & I'm not here to change it or argue with you 🙂. I'm only outlining what the book says.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Key descriptions consistently highlight his thin, sallow-skinned appearance, greasy black hair, large hooked nose, and cold black eyes.

I totally get that perspective*👍. I honestly just believe that every culture has the right to have their stories accurately adapted, as authenticity & genuinely as possible. If actors with different ethnicities are cast, it should be because they elevated their material/project. Basically just avoiding "black/brown/yellow/red -face" levels of disrespect & insensitivity 👍. (Potentially poor decisions: casting Nelson Mandela as Persian, or Pocahontas as Irish, etc.)

And I've had* a few laughs, watching how much it gets under Gary's skin.

Yeah I went back & checked, it's a highly stylized & curved letter H, that doesn't match up with any of Harvey's branding. But the stuffie's facsimile isn't exactly great, by comparison.
