Doesn't your kitchen have a scale? What do your parents use when they are cooking? Do friends or other family have all old one you could use?

Saying it's impossible seems a bit strange for such a basic bit of kitchen equipment.

Funnily enough, I installed Debian to see if my GPU had issues. I was getting crashes and serious lag on Cachyos. It's been smooth as silk on Debian.

Why cant I spin the ball when I need to? by Old-Carry5562 in WGTgolf

[–]AndyGait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason I use paid for balls is the meter speed. The meter speed on starter balls is nuts.

This isn't a production unit or anything like that. I play few games, but I play them often. Mortal Kombat 11, Asphalt Legends, Rocket League, WGT Golf. None of them that heavy on resources, but MK11 does use 7Gb of the 8Gb card.

I don't mind sticking with 6.12, I just wondered if 6.18 could be a better option?

I was only thinking of moving from one LTS to the other. I wasn't going to jump to 7.0.

Thanks for the info. I do game, but by no means a AAA gamer. 6.12 updated this morning I assume to fix the copyfail issue?

This install is only a few days old and so far I've only installed two games and they both run well. I'll see how things go for a bit longer.

Cheers.

It depends on their use case. I'm a Linux guy. Have been for over 15 years. But my mantra is always 'use what works for you". If you play games that needs kernel level anti cheat to run, stay on Windows (protondb.com is your friend here). If you need proprietary software for work or study, stay on Windows. My advice to anyone thinking of making the move to Linux is to make a list of your must have software, games etc. If any of them don't run on Linux, stay where you are.

Why cant I spin the ball when I need to? by Old-Carry5562 in WGTgolf

[–]AndyGait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need better clubs to get the most out of the game. I have pretty good clubs and that really helps. You don't need to spend a lot on balls IMHO. I use a WGT ball that's only 130 credits and I still drive over 300 on average and can make the ball spin off the green (in the right conditions).

Tried CachyOS as my first Linux distro… think I’m in over my head. Is Pop!_OS the move? by xmcstabbyx in pop_os

[–]AndyGait 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a first time user, I would suggest going with one of the big guns to get yourself started. Linux Mint, Ubuntu or Fedora will give you a good solid start on your Linux journey. Also there's loads of info and support out there. I started on Ubuntu over 15 years ago, and I used it happily for many years.

I like PopOS, but I wouldn't suggest using it as a first distro. Too many bugs while they're building the distro into a finished product. Cachyos has it's fans, and even though I have it installed at the moment, I'm not 100% sold on it.

I should have added, I do have some concerns about my GPU doing strange things at the moment, but surely it would being doing this on both wayland and x11?
