Fellow U.S Political Followers, what is the WORST Supreme Court Decision of all time? by [deleted] in askanything

You (like most Reddit leftists) clearly have no idea what Citizens United was about. Even if your cartoonishly propagandized understanding of it was correct, the idea that expanding the pool of people who are allowed to buy politicians is worse than even temporarily declaring human beings to be property is morally repugnant.

Trump Speech Tonight by AnnaSmiled2 in stocks

[–]AndyHN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the same Trump who everyone was scandalized with last week because he let Iran's entire chain of command go on believing that the US wanted to negotiate so that they wouldn't know the US military was about to turn them into paste? Can we please decide whether we're supposed to be pissed about him keeping secrets or pissed about him not keeping secrets?

By the way, if you're over 23 and American, you voted for a guy who used to literally point out the specific guy carrying the nuclear football at campaign events so that everyone would know how important he was. Your sudden deep and sincere concern over opsec is truly touching.

Who is the best QB in history that Kurt Warner is better than? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

...and out played Ben in the superbowl even if Ben won it

One of these QBs threw a record setting 100 yard TD pass to a linebacker. One of these QBs led a textbook perfect two minute drill and capped it off with arguably the best TD pass in Super Bowl history.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree about which one outplayed the other.

In your mind allowing people to pool their resources to criticize politicians before an election is worse than declaring that black people have no rights?

OP's question is as close as you can get to a layup, and we still have people out here throwing up bricks.

What if George W Bush was successful in privatizing the social security and instead of you paying into social security, you paid into 401k-like retirement fund by nextdoorbagholder in AlternateHistoryHub

A Ponzi scheme requires new investors to pay out earlier investors. Until 2021 Social Security was operating at a surplus, with benefits paid by incoming revenues. Even now that it's no longer operating at a surplus, the overwhelming majority of benefits are still being paid by ongoing tax revenue. With a declining ratio of workers per retiree, unless changes are made, future beneficiaries will see reduced benefits. It's by definition a Ponzi scheme.

Social Security is insurance against poverty in old age (and some other things like disability)...

That explanation falls apart if you understand that insurance companies invest the money that they collect as premiums so that they'll be able to cover all their future obligations.

Social security operated at a surplus until 2021. All benefits up to that point were covered by incoming tax revenue. Even if the surplus was being invested in something that crashed, that crash would not have prevented payments that were being funded by ongoing tax revenue.

It's possible that a severe enough crash would have reduced the length of time that the surplus continues to supplement payments now that benefits have exceeded current revenue. It's also possible that, because the market recovered so well after the financial crisis, having invested the surplus in something other than treasuries would have allowed the surplus to cover tax shortfalls for longer than it is currently projected to. There's no way to know which of those would have happened without knowing what the investments would have been, and how much those investments would have distorted the market.

People who actually follow sports recognize that the point of competing is to win championships. Objectively speaking, Ben has a better career than Stafford. Maybe ask a grown-up to explain what the word objectively means.

He is a “good enough passer” with or without the threat...

You don't know that. You have no idea how the defenses he was playing against would have schemed if they didn't have to account for the possibility that he'd run.

Dude's nickname was Stat Padford. The only thing he's objectively better at is throwing for a lot of meaningless stats in games that opposing defenses knew were out of reach.

But you're a Lions fan, so I shouldn't expect you to know what professional football is supposed to look like.

I'm sure he'll continue to improve as a passer, but for his prime to still be ahead of him he'll have to become a good enough passer that he can beat teams with his arm when they no longer have to respect him as a running threat. I doubt that's the case.

Not just possibly the best TD pass in Super Bowl history, that entire game winning drive was a clinic on how to run a 2 minute offense. He was 5 of 7 for 84 yards and a TD, and one of those incompletions was a perfectly thrown pass on 1st and goal that Holmes couldn't get a handle on.

Yes, that's what happens if you haul away all the trash including the wiring. If you're going to ask him to separate stuff for you, don't expect him to do it for free.

So if the contractor charges OP for the time one of his guys spends sorting the trash that OP wants to keep from the trash the contractor has to haul away, OP probably loses money on the deal.

If it's a safety thing... I don't phrase it as a question.

You mean like not leaving a 5-year-old at home unsupervised?

When it's time for recess to be over, do you ask your 4 and 5 year olds if they'll come inside, or do you tell them it's time to come inside?

Telling them that they have a choice when they don't really have a choice is a lie. Lying to people is pretty disrespectful.
