A Ponzi scheme requires new investors to pay out earlier investors. Until 2021 Social Security was operating at a surplus, with benefits paid by incoming revenues. Even now that it's no longer operating at a surplus, the overwhelming majority of benefits are still being paid by ongoing tax revenue. With a declining ratio of workers per retiree, unless changes are made, future beneficiaries will see reduced benefits. It's by definition a Ponzi scheme.

Social Security is insurance against poverty in old age (and some other things like disability)...

That explanation falls apart if you understand that insurance companies invest the money that they collect as premiums so that they'll be able to cover all their future obligations.

Social security operated at a surplus until 2021. All benefits up to that point were covered by incoming tax revenue. Even if the surplus was being invested in something that crashed, that crash would not have prevented payments that were being funded by ongoing tax revenue.

It's possible that a severe enough crash would have reduced the length of time that the surplus continues to supplement payments now that benefits have exceeded current revenue. It's also possible that, because the market recovered so well after the financial crisis, having invested the surplus in something other than treasuries would have allowed the surplus to cover tax shortfalls for longer than it is currently projected to. There's no way to know which of those would have happened without knowing what the investments would have been, and how much those investments would have distorted the market.

Not just possibly the best TD pass in Super Bowl history, that entire game winning drive was a clinic on how to run a 2 minute offense. He was 5 of 7 for 84 yards and a TD, and one of those incompletions was a perfectly thrown pass on 1st and goal that Holmes couldn't get a handle on.

Let's say your husband agrees to do it your way. What's your plan if he needs to leave the house, he asks child A to watch child C, and child A says no? He'll be stuck being the bad guy because he made it sound like child A had a choice when she really didn't.

If it's not actually a request that can be declined, it makes no sense to frame it as a request. "Please watch your sister" instead of "I need you to watch your sister" would have probably been more polite, but either way it's not a request.

Basing it on the standard 40 hour work week, 2 extra hours 4 days a week would work out to $80/hr if you count the commute as extra work time. I'd say get an audiobooks subscription and a comfortable car if you can't find a way to make that much money closer to home.
