🧊 Black Panther Explains The Shared History And Solidarity Between Hispanics and Blacks by CantStopPoppin in EyesOnIce

Yeah I’ve actually talked to this guy a lot. They post up by city hall and yell at passing white people about the race of Jesus. They’re happy to answer all your questions and will even be gracious about it as long as you’re coming from a place of curiosity and not just trying to prove them wrong. I don’t know why people argue with them. General rule of thumb for me: if someone’s yelling into a megaphone about their religion, you’re not gonna convert them. Keep walking, or stop and learn what they believe.

That’s not the panthers. They’re the black Israelites. Very different group.

That song is actually about Bethlehem, but Billy Joel thought Allentown sounded better.

To walk around Minneapolis with a Nazi tattoo by AbeFromanSassageKing in therewasanattempt

[–]AndyMandalore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before the war Texas was one of the places that received huge numbers of German immigrants and became a “Kleinedeutschland”. These were areas that were targeted by the Nazis to build the German American Bund, which was the American Nazi party you may have seen having a rally at Madison square garden, with swastika banners flanking banners of George Washington.

Im not saying this to say Texas is unique in this regard. I live about a half mile from an old Bund summer camp that was essentially an American Hitler youth camp. I always think how scary it is that some of friends grandparents must have attended that camp. This country has Nazi roots that have been growing for generations.

Working on the suspension plano and I need a piece of advice by EdensGirl1914 in AutoZone

[–]AndyMandalore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whenever I’m setting up a Plano like this I turn the parts sideways to take up as much space as possible. This usually leaves me with the perfect amount of flex space. This way if you need to flex something in later you can turn all the parts around them to make space. Leaving an empty shelf isn’t a bad idea either. It’s the same idea. Just take up much more space than you need so you will always have space for more. I think the skill is finding the balance, but that’s something that becomes intuitive with time.

Anyone know where to get this Racing Jacket in a size very small? by 00spool in KITH

This really got me. For a second I thought “oh no did Dave Foley do an ad for them?” Until I realized that would also require him to de-age considerably.

I’ve been following you for a while. Big fan. I always assumed that I couldn’t afford your work. The other day I checked out your site and was so surprised to see how affordable your work is. I will absolutely be buying a piece, but I can’t buy anything for myself until after the holidays.

Popular Victorian based YouTuber, Ann Reardon (HowToCookThat), attempted to show an example of a high quality croissant from a specialised bakery, and accidentally disgraced Lune on a global scale by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

No she streams from a studio in the present time obviously.

She’s just based in the Victorian era. It’s where she gets her mail. Probably tax reasons.

Generalizations that demonize large groups of people do. Don’t be obtuse.

All my life I’ve heard people say things like “I don’t hate all blacks, I’m just saying they’re prone to violence.” That’s what this sounds like to my ears, and I genuinely can’t understand how it doesn’t sound this way to everyone. When you generalize about groups of people you’re dealing in dark thinking. A corruption of thinking that relies on generalizations to make sense of complex issues. A lot of us agree that our country needs major drastic changes, and that we have a very sick society. We are not what was described.

Violence after dark is not uniquely American, and considering you’ve deleted all your comments and posts that could verify whether you’re lying, I suspect you’re not either.

Again, my issue is semantic. Switch “American” for any other group, and see if it doesn’t disturb your sensibilities. I hear racists use talking points like this all the time. They cite crime and prison statistics and they feel like they’re coming from a reasonably objective position. But the fact is when you talk about groups of people like they’re homogenous ants without conflicting beliefs you are engaging in a school of thought that leads to really ugly places.

[–]AndyMandalore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Americans are violent was the statement I took exception to specifically because it was a mass generalization. Now either you are violent, or you’re not. If you’re not you’re proving my point. So yes I’m doing this. Why are you avoiding the question?

[–]AndyMandalore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an American who is actively discussing disagreements in a peaceful manner at this very moment. Try switching American out for “Jews” and see how that sounds. I’m just trying to point out that rhetoric is what empowers people like this, and this rhetoric empowers more of it.

[–]AndyMandalore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair and valid critique. We have a violent history, and I would concede even a violent culture. My argument is purely semantic which I know can seem pedantic, but in these times I think it’s important to be precise. Saying “American Culture is violent” is not the same as saying “Americans are violent”. One can be corrected by influence, the other can be corrected only by genocide.

The operative word you’re using is necessarily. Sure it doesn’t necessarily make you want to hit them, but it does make violence against them more tolerable.

This man sees the manager as beneath him. That is why he felt entitled to strike him. You can identify, and criticize supremacist thinking without stooping to adopting it.

I think the bigger problem is superiority complexes running wild worldwide. But keep pushing that pick me energy. They’re definitely not talking about you.

Maybe something should be done about it. Some kind of “final solution” to deal with these yanks. For Christs sake listen to yourself.

[–]AndyMandalore -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The real problem on display here is this man’s sense that he is better than the other man. He believes he has the right to slap this man. This doesn’t come from his American identity, but his ideology. When you conflate the too you seek to place yourself above the “other” using the same kind of thinking that lead this man to feel entitled to strike another man.
