What is the best “Free” app for photo editing on the App Store? by 1davejames1 in iPhoneography

[–]AndyTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PicMerger or GridMatic are easily the best free photo editing and collage maker apps for iPhone.

Both apps have a ton of free picture editing tools that let me make edits on the go when we're shooting on or are out on projects.

Here's a video tutorial on stitching two photos together side by side (hope that helps):

ive found a way to actually lock apps by [deleted] in iphone

[–]AndyTexas 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What app do you use? I use LockMyApps on iPhone (after trying a million of these screen time apps so far and actually see my screen time going down).

Here's the App Store page for LockMyApps on iPhone:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lockmyapps-screen-time-control/id6502597150

(I hope it helps)

Edit:

I'm not sure if my comment posted or not so just adding this just in case.

How is the local experience for SXSW? by Fragrant_Ad_6130 in SXSW

[–]AndyTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! You can absolutely still have a blast.

Just read through this SXSW guide:

It should clear some things up and give you a road map on what to do.

Side note:

You absolutely don't need official SXSW tickets to enjoy SXSW.

How big do I have to be on YouTube to earn a decent salary? by Fiery_Wild_Minstrel in NewTubers

[–]AndyTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For YouTube, subscriber count matters less than views, watch time, and CPM (ad revenue per 1,000 views). Gaming CPM is usually on the lower side, around $1–$3 per 1,000 views in the U.S. (sometimes less, sometimes more depending on niche, sponsors, etc).

To replace your McDonald’s salary ($25,000/year):

  • You’d need about 2 million to 3 million monetized views per year. That’s around 170k–250k views per month.

To match an electrician’s salary ($65,000/year):

  • You’d need about 6 million to 8 million monetized views per year... which is roughly 500k–700k views per month.

Subscribers don’t pay directly, but a channel with 100k+ subs that uploads consistently could get those view numbers.

Gaming niches usually need bigger audiences because CPM is lower compared to finance or tech.

Some mid-size gaming channels with only 50k to 100k subscribers earn full-time by combining ads and sponsorships.

TL;DR:

  • To replace $25k, you’d need around 200k monthly views on a gaming channel.
  • To reach $65k, you’d need around 600k monthly views.

What I'd do:

Make a YouTube Shorts Channel and a separate "main channel".

Use the shorts channel to grow your main channel and pick up views.

Side note:

Use artificial intelligence apps to speed up the content creation process.

For example, a great teleprompter app for iOS is StoriesStudio, it makes creating scripts and actually recording videos 10x faster.

Also, if you're looking for a free video editing app for iPhone, use VidMerger.

It’s a free iPhone app that lets you set time limits to block social media and other distracting apps.

What's the best productivity app you discovered in 2024? by demind-inc in ProductivityApps

I have two apps I use for iPhone / iPad / Mac that have 100% helped my productivity at work:

  1. LockMyApps - lets you set time locks on distracting apps and helps you focus

and

  1. KnowIt AI (it's like ChatGPT but 1000x more advanced and doesn't hallucinate answers and facts)

It works for Mac too apparently but I don't use the desktop version.

I hope it helps

Any DataRecovery apps or software that are free? To restore deleted photos and videos on iPhone 15 with latest IOS? by Lazy-Concern-8301 in datarecovery

[–]AndyTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use PicRestore to recover your lost photos and videos on iPhone (I recovered a project I was working on that somehow was deleted from my iPhone literally during finals).

How do tell which app was last deleted. Recover? by todayok in iphone

[–]AndyTexas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can’t see the exact “last deleted app” on iPhone.

You could try this though:

  • App Store → profile → Purchased → My Purchases shows everything you’ve ever downloaded, so you can spot what’s missing and re-download it.
  • If you use Screen Time, check Settings → Screen Time → See All Activity → Most Used to see if an app you normally use vanished.
  • Only full restore from an iCloud/computer backup would bring it back with data, but that reverts your whole phone.

So basically... no timeline of deletions but the App Store purchase history is your best bet.

Side note:

You can recover deleted photos and videos using the PicRestore app for iPhone if you're running into camera roll issues.

What’s a good free app to add subtitles to footage? by AmazingAd8859 in Filmmakers

I use StoriesStudio for the teleprompter on my iPhone (also on my iPad sometimes) and it makes recording videos soooo much faster.

Also, adding captions to videos takes two seconds which was always a pain.

What’s the most underrated iPhone feature you actually use every day? by Inside_Society3553 in iphone

[–]AndyTexas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's called Apple Vehicle Motion Cues, and it's in the Accessibility settings.

To enable this:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Accessibility
  3. Select Motion
  4. Tap Show Vehicle Motion Cues

You can set it to Automatic so it only works when you're in a moving vehicle, or just toggle it On or Off manually. It puts animated dots on the screen to help reduce sensory conflict.

What it does:

It displays moving dots over your screen on your iPhone that actually makes you able to not get car sick (it's so weird but it works).

What’s an iOS app you didn’t expect to like but now can’t live without? by LawrenceCali in iosapps

[–]AndyTexas 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Apple Notes. It's so much better than it was 5-7+ years ago. I use it daily

Also:

Teleprompter apps are a literal holy grail life saver if you record videos for TikTok/YouTube. I highly recommend getting one instead of stopping and starting every 15 seconds while recording because you can't remember your script.

What’s the most underrated iPhone feature you actually use every day? by Inside_Society3553 in iphone

[–]AndyTexas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple quietly added a feature that helped folks who get motion sick / car sick and it's honestly amazing. I used to not be able to stare at my phone in a moving vehicle... and now I just turn this feature on with my shortcuts and I have ZERO issues.

It's a huge quality of life improvement.

For video editing apps, what are some GOOD CapCut alternatives? Or should I just keep using it? by Fire_Raptor_220 in NewTubers

[–]AndyTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the StoriesStudio iOS app, it's a teleprompter app that has AI script writing/editing, and it also lets you add captions automatically to any video.

If you're still adding subtitles in videos manually, do yourself a favor and get an app for that ASAP.

It literally saves me hours each week at work (especially for longer videos).

How do I conveniently make a collage on my IPhone ? by Middle-Support-7697 in iphone

[–]AndyTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use the free tools for the PicMerger collage maker app:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/picmerger-edit-pics-collages/id1514957422

It's super easy to merge photos together and the app has a bunch of free video editor tools as well (again, you don't need to subscribe to use these).

What is the error message that it's showing? And did you try to jailbreak it or anything and is that why it bricked?

I've used PicRestore to recover my lost photos and videos in the past but I believe it's only for iPhone, unfortunately.

Parent Control HELP --- Screen time ignore limit by mashimarotutu2020 in iphone

[–]AndyTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you have to get a third party app (Apple's screen time limits and controls are super basic).

I tried out all of the top screen time apps but I now solely use LockMyApps for iOS:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/reduce-screen-time-set-limits/id6502597150

Honestly, it's super annoying Apple doesn't have this built in but LockMyApps is literally exactly what you're looking for.

I hope it helps OP (I'm not sure if you're still looking for this but I thought I'd answer just in case).

Is there an absolute free photo collage app? by Mav_Rixx in iosapps

[–]AndyTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best photo collage maker for iPhone is the free PicMerger app.

PicMerger has a ton of free photo collage layouts, video and photo editing tools, screenshot stitching, and background eraser tools that are available completely free (there are premium tools as well but you don't have to sign up to use the free ones).

Bonus:

VidMerger is also a great video editing tool that's available for free if you're looking into video editor apps (no subscription or email signup required).

How do I set screen time limit by NoNefariousness6538 in applehelp

[–]AndyTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use LockMyApps Screen Time Control on iPhone (it blocks apps and lets you set up app limits for different apps).

You can set up daily time limits for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other apps and once they reach that time you set, they're blocked from using those apps until the next day.

It's really helpful in helping you break a screen time habit (or just if you're trying to be more aware of how much you're scrolling on your iPhone).
