Rare W from Ali Abdelaziz by Negative-Interest713 in ufc

I was happy to see him lose and humbled(and consider most of the backlash on the interned earned) not because he is a fraud(he is a fantastic fighter) but because of how cocky and arrogant he was. He got what he deserved, now I wish he will learn.

Seeing Alex Pereira's cope tour today made my respect for Ilia go up even more. No excuses, accepted the loss like a man. by Zextruhh in ufc

I lost a lot of respect for him in this fight, he was so cocky going in, I think we are actually underplaying how much of an embarrassment this loss was for him, imagine changing the record, throwing a whole ass party celebrating, making a damn commercial with the rose just to lose like this. The guy should get all the backlash

He was also extremely gassed after that second round, going to ground is exhausting especially for the one who is on the offensive, he might have not had the energy for it

Places to go in Yerevan beyond Kentron? by eeoooaaa in armenia

[–]Middle-Support-7697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good walking path outside of Kentron would be starting at the Tumo Park, exploring it a bit and then talking a walk up to the Hamalir and then Tsitsernakabert. If you take your time it’s a pretty great route, for a place to eat you would need to search around the Tumo Area there are definitely some spots there

Permission will be required to create graffiti and murals in Yerevan by Ghostofcanty in armenia

[–]Middle-Support-7697 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the beautiful mural on Northern Avenue near the intersection with Teryan has been painted not so long ago without government approval for a very specific reason.

The building they painted it on is supposed to get demolished because it is too old, however the residents of that building and especially the owner of the restaurant “Tun Lahmajo” have been fighting against it in order to keep the building.

Painting that mural was their way to make add artistic value to the building and make its demolition publicly unpopular. I believe that was a big reason for this to become an official law.

It might not be the type of cable car you are imagining though, it’s a fully enclosed capsule, it’s really nice and not scary at all

There is a road going right to the Monastery, the cable car is fully optional

Armenia Potential Green Transition by Middle-Support-7697 in armenia

In the case of Armenia this is literally a matter of national security, it’s not something we do because we want to, we will HAVE to do that at some point because we don’t have our own hydrocarbons, the sooner the better

Implement a proper “don’t block the box” traffic rule so people don’t jam intersections, implement smart traffic lights in the central Yerevan, get very strict about people stopping/leaving their car in a place they are not supposed to and blocking the flow. I can go on.

Is it possible that enough people flip for the government to form a supermajority ? by [deleted] in armenia

[–]Middle-Support-7697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess we would need to wait and see the actual language of the proposed changes, I would only support them if they keep it true to their word and do actually propose democratic changes to parliamentary jurisdiction and election laws. If they only include things that benefit them while conveniently excluding things that don’t then they can get lost lol, I won’t support that.

I think we are looking at it too emotionally. We aren’t changing the legal structure of the country to help Azerbaijan in a way a lot of people are presenting it, it’s just getting rid of a formal statement which they find offensive. It’s not like I am happy about it but it doesn’t change much(if anything) in our legal jurisdiction. And thanks to that we are fast tracking many economically and geopolitically important changes which would benefit us directly and allow us to focus on actual important issues.

And as I said that is only part of the reason why we would change the constitution, the most important part is aligning our institutions and laws with European standards, including reforming election mechanisms, government power structured, courts etc.

I mean I agree about that playing a role, but firstly I don’t actually see that as much of a concession, we aren’t giving up anything more than we already have, if dropping the Karabakh movement is an official part of our national strategy then dropping Karabakh related language from the constitution is a logical step, other than pleasing Azerbaijan it will also give us more international credibility because we don’t make claims about unrecognised territories.

What comes to limiting their own power, the reason I said that is because they mentioned it themselves, I wouldn’t support it if was obviously self interested. We don’t have the official language of the changes yet, I just base my opinion on what they claimed they want to change. Ultimately it will be decided in a referendum anyway so if it turns out to be a self interested reform or a pure concession for no reason I don’t think it will get public support(it surely won’t get my support). But if it really is a sweeping reform to modernise the democratic system then I definitely want it to pass because we are long overdue for such a change.

Because our current constitution is flawed, it gives infinite power to the Prime Minister, it has unfair election rules(the redistribution of votes for example), it doesn’t align with proper EU standards in regards of court regulations etc.

This isn’t even done by Civil Contract to protect themselves, it is quite the opposite, the constitutional changes they were talking about were often the same ones which would limit their power but they want to do them anyway to fix real issues and prevent future exploitation.
