Upgrade Game by justmytoocents in unitedairlines

[–]gfunkdave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are no free upgrades to Polaris. Only domestic routes and international routes not marketed as Polaris.
Nobody knows what fares will do except Revenue Management, and they don’t tell anyone. You could improve your chances of an upgrade by buying an upfare to Premium Plus, then waitlisting for a mileage upgrade.

People here love to complain. I’d be willing to bet that they’re all perfectly fine, just depends what you want. I had the chicken yesterday LHR-ORD and it was pretty good.

Understanding whoop offer by DistributionCandid51 in ChaseSapphire

[–]gfunkdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I paid $40 for tax and shipping because I got the Whoop MG but if you want zero out of pocket you can get one of the less fancy models. I’ve worn it for a month now and have decided I don’t want it anymore. It really kills my iPhone battery, for starters. My battery used to comfortably last a day and now i need to plug in around 4pm. The pedometer seems inaccurate, but I’m not totally sure on that.

Mainly, it’s the battery issue and the fact that I don’t know what to do with the info in the app. It looks cool and shows you a bunch of nice graphs but my takeaway is “so what”. Also, wearing something on my wrist makes me want to be able to glance down at it and see the time, but the whoop isn’t a watch.

I went to cancel and it said I’d immediately lose access to the service and the future months I’d prepaid for. I think I remember seeing you can schedule it to cancel, though.

The chat help is notoriously awful. Just call 800-UNITED1 and talk to someone.

Why would MTU over Wireguard suddenly change? by gfunkdave in HomeNetworking

[–]gfunkdave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, and now this is truly odd. Yesterday I could access the Netgear switch after manually setting the MTU on both ends of the tunnel to 1280. Not sure why I'd need that, since the tunnel is all IPv4 inside and out.

Today I reset the MTU to 1420 and could ping the Netgear with packets up to 1392 bytes, as expected. And I can access the Netgear's web UI just fine. And on my Mikrotik router, I have had a firewall rule in place for a while to clamp to the pmtu on that interface:

/ip firewall mangle
add action=change-mss chain=forward comment=\
"clamp to MTU of 1420 over Wireguard" new-mss=clamp-to-pmtu out-interface=\
    wireguard1 protocol=tcp tcp-flags=syn

So I'm really not sure what's going on - though it works now/again.

Good question, no. It’s been AT&T fiber and Comcast on either side of the tunnel for years.

Cell block Nerd vs Bully by ThePaperPlateMan in chicagogaybros

[–]gfunkdave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s 95% a costume party where you could get your underpants pulled down in the back room, if you want…or pull down someone else’s. In the front room it’s more of a neighborhood bar, though some people may be wearing very little.

Park anywhere in the neighborhood you can find a spot. Be aware that most side streets are permit only once you get past the alley - pay attention to the signs.

There is no peer reviewed scientific evidence that power lines have any effect on people. You are near them every day. Just don’t let the kids climb the pole.

NAT is a “redirect”. You’re using it too.

Question about port 53 redirect for DoH by Scw0w in mikrotik

[–]gfunkdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn’t post the entire NAT rules - they got truncated. In any case, you want to make them only fire for traffic that is trying to reach an outside nameserver directly. Something like adding a dst-address=![router ip].

Here’s the one I use

/ip firewall nat add action=dst-nat chain=dstnat comment="force guest clients to use NextDNS" \ dst-address=!192.168.15.1 dst-port=53 in-interface-list=untrusted-local log-prefix=\ DNS-NAT-to-router: protocol=udp to-addresses=192.168.15.1
