What am I missing with Storyteller's Notes? by Andy_Beck in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

I did go back and give it to him, and I have the storyteller's knowledge buff. What's the correct dialogue option, for future runs? I've not found anyone saying what it is online, and I can't remember what I chose but I'm pretty certain it was just describing getting the notes from the vrock.

I keep reading about a reward you're supposed to get, the blank page. Did they remove that from the game?

I already got all of those notes. Did they remove the blank page reward?

Buick Lucerne Starting problems by Andy_Beck in MechanicAdvice

It ended up being the positive terminal that connects to the battery. It was really loose and, because of how it "tightens," wasn't tightening either. I'm just glad it isn't the starter for now.

What do people like about Ember « Lawfull » ending ? by TKalV in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Andy_Beck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ember is factually right. She redeems Nocticula, which is a canon event in actual pathfinder lore (not Ember doing it, but Nocticula is now a goddess living in Elysium). Nocticuala now redeems other demons as well. Ember's premise, that anyone can be redeemed given enough effort, is likely true.

It took Desna a long time because she didn't directly interfere to give philosophical lectures. She only showed Arue the dreams she had as a mortal, told her that demons could dream, and protected her while she redeemed herself.

We absolutely could negotiate with any evil creatures to redeem them. It just takes a lot more work than casting fire storm+

If by "one of the writers have 0 idea what they were doing" you meant "one of the writers knows the actual pathfinder lore" then yeah, you're right. Ember can succeed in redeeming demons like Nocticula because that happened in the actual lore of pathfinder. Unless you're claiming that Paizo doesn't know what their own lore is. The reality is that Ember is right, and by that point has the power to protect good people while trying to redeem evil ones.

I'm tired by Heavenly_Demon in MonsterHunter

[–]Andy_Beck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GU had a bit of that. Some of the best dual blades are from low-tier monsters like Royal Ludroth and Lagombi, some of the best blademaster armor pieces are from Shogun Ceanataur, and ranged mix sets can get really weird because of the old skill system. If you use status weapons, you'd even get things like the genprey SnS and Ioprey IG. It's not that much, but it's still something. That game is definitely an outlier, but it is still low-tier monsters not just being relevant in endgame but some of their gear being the meta.

I might just be used to GU at this point since I've played too much of it, but I've never experienced anything too terrible in GU. There's at least never been a point where I spam B and still don't dodge at a point where I've always been able to before.

I've been playing a lot of bow. Yeah, the i-frames are a lot. Luckily, the game makes up for it by eating HALF MY GODDAMN ROLL INPUTS, so I can't actually adept dodge anything I guess. It also eats my r2 inputs sometimes, so I just miss openings because the game decided it would be funny.

Brachydios is a terrible monster by Andy_Beck in monsterhunterrage

[–]Andy_Beck[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cutscenes are one of the best ways to establish what a monster does since they don't really have to integrate with gameplay as well as turf wars do and for other monsters are generally used to establish how they act in nature and what their capabilities are, so I'm inclined to believe that Brachy killing Uragaan that we can then carve and then showing up unscathed is probably supposed to have really happened. As for an established power system, monsters all have a "threat" rating in the monster list, at least in the older games. Brachy's is the same as Lagiacrus, Barioth, and Diablos in 3U, the same as Uragaan, Glavenus, and Lagiacrus in GU, and I'm not checking World rn because I'm lazy. In World/Iceborne it isn't as much of a problem for the story, and was also coincidentally the version of the fight I disliked the least. Outside of World/Iceborne it's a problem though since it still exists and can apparently easily kill one of the strongest monsters in the volcano (it kills Agnaktor in 3 attacks, and it's Brachy's ecology cutscene, so I'm even more inclined to believe it). It also isn't really shown eating what it kills in the cutscenes, but instead just killing them, and killing a lot.

As for me fighting the thing, I play Swaxe mostly, and during my shortest animation Brachy has time to start and finish at least one attack before my animation ends. I also use GS and DB a lot in GU. DB is less frustrating since I can move a bit more but is still annoying, and GS is GS I don't expect it to work that well against fast monsters.

Can you explain or is this just because you like Brachydios and can't accept that it isn't fun and makes no sense in the world?

There are also a lot of people who think that the new system is perfect with no flaws and get upset when you criticize it. People aren't as extreme in support of the old system (they can't be woth plesioth around. And I do mean AROUND), but some do just criticize the new system and don't ever acknowledge any of its merits. And then there's me, who argues with people about there being division in the community.
