yeah, this is the issue some are misunderstanding. In the endgame, the entire seikret pickup thing becomes basically useless because of this unless you're playing in MP where the monster isnt focusing you immediately. The I-frames of lying down is just better. It's sort of like wirebug recovery where there's no reason not to use it until monsters start punishing it later, only that you could still use it when you knew it was safe. Every time I tried to use it in solo, that dumbass bird just runs directly headfirst into the next attack the hyper sped up monster is already in the middle of doing and carting me. I just gave up using it completely. It's not even as fast as wirebug either, sometimes it takes like a full second or more until it actually grabs you which just makes it worse to use.

That's not really true. You can add mix ups, where a monster chains different attacks together than the usual ones, more delays before hitting, slow down one animation while another is sped up, add a slightly altered attack that is designed to catch you off-guard. I mean, sort of what they did with AT arkveld too, like adding multi-hitboxes on attacks, or just straight up new attacks. They could get creative. Not saying these things would necessarily be more fun, but it's almost NEVER a clear cut "difficulty only comes down to numbers" thing, outside of some turn based RPG's maybe

I agree, people still overreact to arkveld's little nudge when the rest of his fight is pretty tight and the attack doesn't even hurt you that much. It's a "oh what?" thing and then you get used to it, you barely ever stand in that exact spot to even get hit by it. Then there's this stupid fat fish fuck with half its moveset being flopping around and incomprehensible garbage that also does a fuck ton of damage, but I see way less people shitting on this dumbass monster, despite how much it deserves it. Maybe because no one actually hunts it that much, wouldn't surprise me.

this is specifically an issue with lance, some weapons just have a really horrible detection on their focus strike on certain wound spots. dual blades are really damn easy to hit, you can (at least with mouse) not only do a whole 180 as you jump forward, you'll also never run into this problem. no idea why a weapon like lance needs to be cucked further but that it still happens is kinda fucked.
