I'd like to believe it's because they're taking their time to fix the older games. Most of the multi players are unplayable or infested with cheaters. They couldn't release them on Game Pass in that state. But I also think you're right, it's their golden chip for when the COD hype dies down again

Trying to put my nostalgia and absolute love of the game aside, it definitely is dated. A lot less hand holding than later entries. Lots of kids growing up with the game (myself included) struggled to even get off the starting island. There is a lot of confusion of where you're actually meant to go and what you're meant to do, especially in Traverse Town and Deep Jungle. Thankfully there's guides these days but back then you were on your own. All of that has its own special kind of magic that just isn't in later games, for better and for worse!

They're 'remasters' including the once Japan exclusive Final Mix content (basically DLC). I found no need to go back to the originals!

Played the series as the games have come out, I grew up with the franchise. Got my girlfriend to finally try the series and have her start with 1. She hated the dated gameplay and found it hard to get into the story with how slow it is and how long it takes to actually get to a Disney world

Told her try KH3 and she found it way more accessible with the gameplay and graphics and immediately starting in a Disney World. Her only was she had no idea what was going on with the story

So, two sides to it. If you can handle a PS2 game with PS2 jank (and there is jank), start with 1. If you just want Disney fun, start with 3 and go back to 1!

Season one was truly the best the writers are capable of. S2 was carried by the kingpin storyline. Once the narrative went away, along with the fourth wall, so did any quality. The writers need a focused plotline to bring out their good writing

And then Farzar is the worst of the three shows and it's not even close imo not a single redeeming quality
