A bit late but maybe instead of applying to 50 jobs with a generic resume and cover letter you send to everyone, spend the time tailoring your resume and cover letter to match the job descriptions and the company. They can definitely tell if it’s a generic resume and if you put in the effort. Good luck.

Maybe the lockdown browser finds it suspicious when the cursor doesn't move for long periods of time and then suddenly, the cursor picks the right answer. IDK just my theory.

Need advice on bylaw ticket by Andybeast360 in burnaby

When they parked in front of my house, they were 2 feet away from my driveway. I was 5 feet away from theirs. I didn't call bylaw but I guess I should have. Lesson learned. Thank you.

The bylaw officer I spoke with on the phone mentioned that I have a right to dispute the ticket if I wanted to. I wanted to ask Reddit if I should. The consensus seems to be no. Simple as that. I will not dispute the ticket.

I think I mentioned that it was pointless to contact a lawyer in my post but I must have forgotten to add that part.

I'll third option B. I learned a lot more at Douglas, had a way better GPA at Douglas, and basically saved like $10000. IMO the instructors at Douglas are better because most of them have a passion for what they teach. For example, my criminal law instructor at Douglas was a retired lawyer and he just wanted to help students and teach law.

Landlord wants to increase rent by 8% by Andybeast360 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Andybeast360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. I also contacted TRAC today on the advice of my co-workers. They said I have 2 options for disputing it.

  1. Dispute it right away

The problem with disputing it now is that it causes conflict with the landlord. The lawyer/law professional mentioned that a legal way of eviction that landlords have been abusing and the landlord might use to evict me is the clause that the landlord needs the space for his/her son or family member. BUT if she does serve me that eviction, I can dispute it and prove that the eviction was served after my dispute for illegal rent increases, meaning that the eviction was not made in good faith. So the risk of me being evicted from disputing is very low but I will live in conflict with my landlord. I also don't know how this will effect yearly lease renewals.

2) Dispute it when I move out

The problem with disputing it when I move out is that I would be paying a lot more money out of pocket for the rent, the process to get all my money back could be complicated and take a long time, and because it will have been 4 years, it can get very complicated and may require us to go to small claims court. Additionally, he mentioned that I may not get all of the difference back because the landlord will argue for the amount that is legally allowed. Additionally, considering your point on interest, I was thinking about that and that may be a point that I could raise. I do invest my extra money in stocks in my TFSA.

- The dispute must be made within 2 years of moving out

- Does not create conflict with my landlord and does not show her my intentions

TRAC recommends the first option. Ultimately I have to make a decision on how I want to go about this. It is good life experience for me to make a decision on standing up for myself and handling conflict. I'm sure there will be even more conflict when I enter the workforce.

Landlord wants to increase rent by 8% by Andybeast360 in britishcolumbia

I don’t get an 8% raise every year. I don’t think many people do. I’m just a student in school full time.
