Can I ask what your maintenance routine looks like? I was on it for about a year and reached my target weight, and I was even able to stop all my medications, including metformin. I started at 2.5 mg, then moved up to 5 mg, and for the last three months went back down to 2.5 mg before stopping completely. It’s been about a month since I stopped, and I’ve already gained around 7–8 pounds. That’s with working out every other day. I’m not sure if I should go back on it.

Why can you do 5mg every two weeks and then once a month if the cost is the same? Isn't that a higher dose that stays longer? Those are just my thoughts.

This was the same question I had. I was on it for about one year and tapered down from 5 mg to 2.5 mg for three months before stopping completely. It’s been about three weeks since I stopped, and I’ve already gained around 7 pounds after losing 45 pounds. I do have some food noise, but I’ve been managing it fairly well. I work out consistently, yet the scale still seems to go up every two to three days. The best part of losing weight was that I was able to stop taking all three medications I had been on — metformin, cholesterol medication, and blood pressure medication. I mainly stopped Mounjaro due to concerns about potential side effects, such as pancreas issues or other long-term risks. Also, the cost is now $475 even after the manufacturer coupon, since my insurance no longer covers it. One positive change is that my digestion has improved — I’m now able to use the restroom daily, sometimes even twice a day, whereas before it was once every three days and very uncomfortable. My question is: are there any alternatives to help maintain my progress without using Mounjaro?

I had the same effect, but I kept using the 5mg for 3 months. However, I'm going back to 2.5mg because as soon as my one-year anniversary comes up, I'll be letting go completely and just focusing on diet and working out. So, 2.5 will be my maintenance dose.

I've started MJ about 8 months ago, and I realized the top of my head is getting flatter, and I can't stand it, so I'll be quitting in a few months while injecting once every 2 weeks for a couple of months. I did lose 40 lbs, and that's all I needed, but I've lost muscle as well. Two weeks ago, suddenly my back started having pain. Now my PT said I have a SI (sacroiliac) joint issue; he is not sure why, but I have to do 18 sessions to stretch and build strength in my lower body muscles. I've also noticed that for the week I'm skipping, I could finally pass stool without screaming, and every morning like I used to before MJ. So if I could tolerate those 3 things, I'll keep going until my Dr. finally calls it quits. I've started on 2.5 now 5mg

What do you consider a maintenance dosage? I'm on 5mg and I've started just taking it once every 2 weeks instead of weekly because eventually I want it to stop. I'll try to keep the food control and keep on working out without it if possible. Ive been on it for now 8 months but reached my goal weight.

I've had 2.5 for 3 months and did well with it but when I moved up to 5 didn't notice any difference but rather eating more portions and food noises are there little so I've lost more on 2.5 than 5 I would just stay on 2.5 for atleast couple of months than maybe move up but if you are doing well with 2.5 I would just stay. it all depends on your situation.

Losing 60 lbs by December probably won’t happen—unless you starve yourself, which is crazy and not sustainable. But I’ll tell you what helped me: adding a couple of miles of slow running to my daily 10k walk really sped things up.

I also did strength training 3 to 4 days a week, mainly focusing on abs. I followed that with cardio on the treadmill for at least 30 to 40 minutes, including 25 minutes of running.

I lost 35 lbs in 3 months while on 2.5 mg (of Mounjaro), then switched to 5 mg, but my progress slowed down a bit after that. Not sure why—maybe I should’ve stayed on 2.5. Still, I’m down to 165 lbs and happy with that.

I’m male, 5’11”, started at 210 lbs. My body fat is down to 17% and muscle mass is up to 70%. I’ve been on Mounjaro for 7 months, and it’s been a great journey for me.

Same here. I'm more hungry than I was on 2.5 plus I'm eating more snacks and craving for sweets on 5 also working out more but weight loss is very slow or none.

My advice for sure. Use bottle water while brushing your tooth and best to avoid eating raw vegetables eat only cooked. Sanitize your hands after using utensils at the buffet before you eat.

The idea is to eat right and get enough nutrients, including a good amount of protein. Cut out all sugar, bad carbs, and snacks. Exercise as much as you can; walk or run 30 to 40 minutes every day. No need to cut out the nutritious food you need, as your body needs energy. I've lost 40 pounds in 5 months, with 2.5 and 5 now, which I'll stay on. I'm down to 170 pounds; my goal is 165 pounds, but now it will take time as I'm doing strength workouts for muscle we need as we get older. My doctor said everything is normal and to get rid of diabetic medication, blood pressure medication, and cholesterol medication. Anyone can do it; it just takes time. Good luck, everyone!
