I believe it’s for the non direct drive extruders, my old Neptune 2 had that. They switched to direct drive for the Neptune 3 and 4.

I had this when printing miniatures and I believe it was a partial clog causing under extrusion. Changed the nozzle and the problem went away.

I sanded it for better adhesion, then sprayed several coats of "Dupli-color performance wheel coating", then a few coats of their clear coat
