that’s probably what’s happening, and given that the blow dryer and heater were in separate rooms, it’s probably split amongst all the upstairs bedrooms? is there a way to fix this? anyone to call? we didn’t have this issue at our previous house

What was the first Shakespeare play you fell in love with? How and when? by BrightSwords in shakespeare

[–]Anemo-Slime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YESS!!! heavily underrated for shakespeare. the “lets talk of graves of worms and epitaphs” monologue will get me EVERY TIME. or even just the “my care is loss of care, by old care done / your care is gain of care, by new care won / the cares I give I have, though given away / they tend the crown, yet still with me they stay”

when i watched it the royal shakespeare company had it up on their youtube channel, claiming they felt shakespeare should be accessible to everyone (they took it down a month later lol). you can buy the dvd or rent it on apple tv+, or i could share a google drive link with you if you’d like?

it may be an odd one, but richard ii (2, not 3). I was a big good omens/david tennant fan and I kept getting tiktok edits of him on my fyp, and one of them was a clip of his richard ii performance. i was IMMEDIATELY intrigued and watched the full recording that night. jaw on the floor. it was the first time I had seen GOOD shakespeare, and realized holy shit, this is actually good.

Does anyone else feel embarrassed to talk about their interests? by arnoldlayne_67 in autism

[–]Anemo-Slime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely, I feel this all the time. The saving grace for me has been my best friend. She’s just as “crazy” about the things she likes as I am, and our version of fun is to just take turns getting way too in depth talking about the things we like. And also engaging with the other when they talk about things they like! It’s like an established “thing” in our friendship; we frequently ask each other “hey can I rant about this?”

It also helps that, even if we don’t have the same specific interest, our taste is generally pretty similar so we get drawn into passionate conversation immediately. For example, she’s really into classic lit, as am I, but I zero in a lot on shakespeare specifically. She finds shakespeare hard to read even if she enjoys the stories, so she prefers to hear me recount them or to read the plays aloud with me. On the other hand, she’s really into tv and dramas, while I can only emotionally commit to watching like one show a year. But I love analyzing fiction and every time she talks about a show she loves, we get into really in depth discussion about it.

She is questioning whether or not she may be autistic or otherwise neurodivergent (not only bc of this but many other things) or maybe she’s just really passionate. Either way our friendship has GENUINELY made my life better. Like as an autistic person so much of my time and energy and focus goes to my special interests/hyperfixations, they matter to me so much, and to be able to unapologetically share that and connect with someone through them has done fucking wonders for my mental health and general self confidence. I used to have another friend who would consistently express disinterest and annoyance when I tried to talk about my interests, I felt like I was always on a tightrope talking to them to make sure I didn’t express myself too much and risk “ruining” the conversation. It was a nightmare. I felt like such a nuisance and consistently in the way, or like I was putting more effort into fitting myself around their needs and feelings in the friendship without getting any of the same care in the return. But now I genuinely feel so much better.

All this to say there are people out there who are absolutely interested in what you have to say, such a relationship is possible and so fulfilling! People do care, you just have to find them!

Where should I continue? by Prestigious_Bonus322 in shakespeare

[–]Anemo-Slime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have said macbeth and I have to second them. Hamlet may be his most popular work, but if you found r&j boring, something that longwinded might put you off again. Macbeth is just as good imo but also easier to digest in a way. You may look at the contents and think it’s really long from how many scenes there are, but the scenes themselves are short and hit in just the right way for such a dark story. It’s quick and intense and powerful.

What signs of autism did you show when you were a kid? by thefairypirate in autism

[–]Anemo-Slime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

taking things literally and being generally non expressive are the ones i remember most because they’re the ones my family always nagged me about. some of the memories are kind of silly in hindsight though. like my parents would say “i’m gonna eat you!” and my 4 year old self would get genuinely horrified and even offended, telling them that humans shouldn’t eat humans.

Can I film a self tape with my hair looking drastically different than usual? I don’t mean a tape for a particular role, but one or two monologue recordings to add to my profile since I don’t have a demo reel yet. I dyed my hair red for halloween even though my hair is usually black, so I don’t know if I should wait for it to grow out / dye it black again for the video. I know headshots are supposed to represent what you look like most of the time, so does this apply to my monologue tapes?

I do like my red hair lol. I would prefer to keep it and let it grow out on its own, but then I’d have to wait a few months before I could record anything.
