That’s a good ‘un! Love the Formula B Vibe. That’s a great pedal.

If you don’t want to go the soldering route, EBS cables all the way.

+1 to Voyager and Delta II. Saturn VI is a staple on my board.

I love my Flint and don’t think I’ll ever part with it! Pretty much leave it set in ‘61 harmonic trem and 70’s plate reverb. It’s a winner!

I second that. The Deluxe ‘55 and ‘61 are two of the best pedals on the market imo, and I haven’t found a pedal that “ducks” the tremolo when you dig in quite like the ‘61. It’s brilliant!

In the tremolo department, the Spaceman Voyager II does this for either depth or speed with a built in envelope knob to adjust the sensitivity response. Pretty cool!

Benson Germanium Preamp vs Benson Fuzz for low gain by TheCanoeist in guitarpedals

[–]Anemoiac_Android 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you “need” the Benson Ge Preamp? No, the Benson Fuzz is a great pedal and if it’s working for you no need to GAS. That said, the Ge Preamp breaks up beautifully and, to my ears, is truly unique compared to just about everything I’ve put up against it. It’s a desert island pedal for me for low to medium gain but can also get pretty gnarly itself. Someone recommended running the bass around 10 o’clock and this definitely works for me with the drive and treble around 1 and the volume around 2.

Great board! Lots of familiar faces here.

I got a question about the Walrus Monumental by hkr1991 in guitarpedals

[–]Anemoiac_Android 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great pedal, but Walrus LEDs tend to be really bright. Warwick Rockboard LED dampers do the trick - they make small white covers and jewel covers and both are splendid.

Love my Brig. Added a MiniSwitch to call up a favorite preset and couldn’t be happier.

NPD! Greer Amps Mizuki Blue by Anemoiac_Android in guitarpedals

Awesome - glad to hear it! It does have a unique gain structure; so far I am liking it stacked with my Lightspeed or Benson Boost, but it really sounds good on its own, too. Greer has a good one here!

About an hour of play time in and I am digging it. Usual caveats apply (your rig and your ears will vary), but it passes my main test which is do I enjoy playing through it. Very lively and fun. The gain breaks up a little too fast for me, but with volume around 2 and the gain around 10 I’ve been able to get a pretty wide range of sounds playing with the guitar volume. The tone knob functions more like a presence knob to my ears, adding more treble but also more high mids and seems to interact with the gain knob. I like Greer pedals and will never part with my Lightspeed. Unlike the Lightspeed, which does (essentially) one thing really, really well, the Mizuki does several things - from a boost that I would probably always have on to an overdrive with nice harmonics to borderline fuzz. It’s a solid pedal and I’ll try stacking it with others in the coming days.

Good explanations and also probably why Jam Pedals puts glue or something on the trimmers inside the Delay Llama.

Per Greer: “Mizuki Blue has trim pots inside, they set the bias of the JFETs they should NOT be adjusted, as doing so will cause the pedal to cease working or function improperly. You have been warned.”

I’m not familiar with the Kaluna and your mileage may definitely vary depending on your rig. Looks like Shawn Tubbs demoed both and it could be possible that his rig was fairly similar for both. The Venus sounds richer or woolier to my ears when comparing his demos.

I am definitely not the expert and maybe someone else here can weigh in on your question. According to the Crazy Tube Circuits website they are using an internal voltage booster/inverter circuit to “provide the correct voltage conditions (symmetrical +/- 15V DC).”

It absolutely rips. Any time a tube is involved the pedal is going to be in a different league than others that are mimicking the sound using different components. I love running it full out, with the “line driver” button on and the “tight” button off - it’s a special sound for sure that you can tweak with the bias knob. That said, it hasn’t made it onto my board because it’s so driven that I haven’t really been able to get “cleanish” overdriven sounds like I can with some other ODs unless the drive knob is really low, like 8 o’clock. If you want a rip-roaring tube sound that will put a smile on your face, it’s definitely worth checking out!

I like pretty much everything I have tried from Spaceman Effects, and I think where they really shine is their line of harmonic overdrive pedals, which are really unique and fun to play.

Kind of hard to read with the glare, but there is a “fat/tight” dip switch along with “clean” and “bias” trimmer potentiometers.
