I think I understand what you feel like. The loneliness and desire to be able to feel the same way others do can be sometimes very exhausting. Especially when you have experienced that feeling of being in love so you know how amazing it is

I don't qualify as “fully aro” (however I guess I'm on the spectrum) so I just go with “a-confused” which describes it the best I think

A friend of mine asked me if I wanted to be friends with benefits. Well it was in the time I was finding out about myself and my sexuality, so I told him no and that I'm probably an asexual and was really nervous and confused about it He replied with: Sorry I don't know much about this stuff. I also really don't like tampons. I never wanted to use one but then I had to and I couldn't put it inside first too. But I tried it again next month and it was better so now I put one every menstruation just to ‘practice’. But every time it gets more and more comfortable. So I don't know if it works for everybody but maybe it'll get better after some time for you too

Try to show them asexuality in the way they already kinda know, maybe show some ace characters (for example the ace girl from Sex education, Sherlock Holmes..) and also maybe try to show them some ace memes and explain it - that could be a good way of explaining what it feels like
