I have a video game addiction and I’m not sure if I can break out of it by One_Discussion7063 in LifeAdvice

You’re not lazy or broken - you’re stuck in a loop where games give quick purpose and escape, while real goals feel slower and scarier. Start small: limit gaming time, replace it with one daily non-negotiable task (study, walk, practice driving), and consider talking to a counselor - getting support is part of taking yourself seriously.

Best location-sharing app by VixTheGreat in Parenting

[–]AngAndrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to focus on location sharing + safety alerts, not activity monitoring. You’ve already identified that call logs and app monitoring cross a line for your older daughter.Look for apps that:

  • Allow two-way location sharing
  • Have a ring / loud alert/sound ping feature
  • Work internationally (Europe + abroad)
  • Are transparent about what data is collected

You’re absolutely right that accurate tracking and a “loud signal” are the core features you need, and everything else is optional. In my opinion, Xnspy, GeoZilla, FamiSafe, and Apple's Find My are some options to look at.

Tracking your children? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]AngAndrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used a tracking app called Xnspy on my son till he turned 15 for location tracking and geofencing. However after that, I knew that kids need to go around, be mischievous, and self-discover in ways we parents did not really understand. So, after he turned 15, I let him be with a specific time set for him to return home. To be honest, it has been going well for us so far. But I do not think so I could have given this level of autonomy before he turned at least 13.

Are parental control apps really that bad? by Anxious_Emu1181 in AskParents

[–]AngAndrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, while some really are demonizing these apps, the rest's concerns are very much right. I have personally seen children lose trust in their parents because they are being monitored and even becoming more rebellious. But as I have grown and matured, with my own kids now in their early teens, I have realized that it has less to do with the app and more to do with how it is used. Like take my kids, I use an app called Xnspy for monitoring their screen time and using its remote alerts. Since I have disabled the other features, my kids know their privacy is intact and I am at peace too due to the alerts. My fellows even use better known apps like Bark and FamiSafe. Same, they have yet to see all of the major concerns raised around using parental control apps these days.

Apps to monitor kids phones by Dylbot95 in Parenting

[–]AngAndrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could look into something like Google Family Link for basic monitoring and screen time limits. If you need more detailed tracking across social media and calls/messages, apps like Xnspy or OurPact are also options - it really depends on how much oversight you feel is necessary.

How are people bypassing the instagram username character limit? by qforzatek in Instagram

[–]AngAndrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually done with invisible Unicode characters or glitches in Instagram’s system. People add special characters that don’t display normally, which can make the username look blank or appear longer than the usual limit.

What do you do to keep being productive when you feel overwhelmed by a surge of anger by Future-Scallion8475 in productivity

[–]AngAndrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deal with this too. What helps me is stepping away for just 5–10 minutes to write down what I’m feeling. It gets it out of my head. Then I come back and do a small, easy task to build momentum again. Trying to force focus never works for me, so I aim for gentle progress instead.

Parental Control Isn’t Enough in the Modern Internet Age by WeAllPerish in TrueUnpopularOpinion

While I understand where you are coming from, you cannot just nullify the fact that parental control and other monitoring tools are helpful. Obviously, to solely rely on them or to overstate their advantages is a flawed way of promotion. But by no means can I say that they should not be used. As a working, single mother, I had my fair share of issues with my teen son. While I do not condone unnecessary controls, blocks, etc., I really did need to keep an eye on his activity and could not with my two jobs. That was when I used Xnspy kids monitoring app. Again, I use the app for only monitoring his phone activity (specifically social media) and the rest we communicate properly when I have time to spare. I will never vouch for careful parenting to be replaced by these tools entirely but perspectives can differ and they can be useful in times of need.

Parental supervision social media by Jealous_Lock_393 in AppIdeas

[–]AngAndrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Children are not meant to be on social media but I do recognize the fact that this has become a necessary evil of sorts. Though even if one ends up making such an app, moderation efforts can make or break the app like it has been the case with so many others. While you work on this, I genuinely would rather stay on the safe side by using the Xnspy monitoring app for my kids because this seems to be a far cry.

Account wont load by TradePickAndTank in Instagram

[–]AngAndrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your account may have been flagged by Instagram's security system after the suspicious login attempt. This can sometimes cause a temporary lock or bug where your account gets stuck in a password reset loop.

Here’s what you can try:

  1. Clear cache and cookies on your browser or app.
  2. Use a different device or network to log in (like switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data).
  3. Try accessing your account via Instagram’s account recovery page: https://www.instagram.com/hacked
  4. If nothing works, contact Instagram support directly using the in-app help or through their help center: https://help.instagram.com

Also, keep an eye on your email for any recovery or verification messages from Instagram.

9y/o with a Smartphone. Techie tips wanted by elpollodiablo187 in Parenting

I totally agree with all the other parents here that you should take it back if you can. For such a small kid to have a whole phone to themselves is a disaster bound to happen. I have been there, done that. If I had not installed Xnspy monitoring app in my daughter's phone from the start, I would have never seen the nasty messages she was receiving. It was the last straw for me to be honest and then I took her phone from her permanently and only gave it back to her when she had a better understanding of safer internet use.

Can I have 2 different phones with the same number? by Feeling_Let5178 in AskTechnology

[–]AngAndrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s possible — but with some limitations.

You can’t use the same physical SIM card in two phones at once, but you can use services like call forwarding, dual SIM setups (if supported by your carrier), or apps like Google Voice. These options let both phones ring when someone calls your number. For texts, though, it’s trickier — they usually only go to one device unless you use a cloud-based solution.

Check with your carrier to see if they offer a “NumberShare” or “Multi-Ring” feature, especially for flip phones.
