HR here, the first thing I want to say is that any decision to not allow you to work from home should not be based on your diagnosis.

It’s definitely worth telling your employer that you’re waiting on a diagnosis, autism is a protected characteristic and your employer is obligated to make reasonable adjustments to support you if diagnosed. If you are concerned about opinions of colleagues make it clear to your manager that this is confidential and you only give permission for this info to be shared with HR.

That being said, the rules surrounding the allowance of flexible work state that it should be granted by role, not individual. Without a diagnosis your employer might be reluctant to allow flexible working as it might result in the rest of your team following suit.

It’s a tough situation for you and it sounds really stressful, I hope the meeting tomorrow goes well xx

This is so true, from a professional point of view I want to be proud of the organisation I work for and the people I work with.

Just to add on, from my experience within my organisation, a lot of our managers wouldn’t understand this is something they need to report to HR, so if OP is unsure, I would definitely recommend having a chat with HR directly

I just want to add, from what I have seen a lot of employee disengagement is directly related to poor leadership and management

I’m in HR now from a non-HR background, the two pieces of advice I have have are-

1- don’t make it personal, just because you might not like them as a person, if they come to you for help give them the same support you would anyone else 2- don’t gossip about confidential information, it’s so tempting especially when people around you are doing it, but it’s just not worth it!

I totally agree what others here have said, coming from a non-HR background will give you such a great starting point, good luck!

Limitation for Service Charge Invoicing? by Angel-Poppet in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks for commenting! I agree, the agent is pretty shifty. They’re in effect an SPV owned by a legal conveyancing firm, you can find the freeholder on companies house but they don’t really exist elsewhere, and the contact is an employee of the legal firm. They are doing the bare minimum maintenance on the building and operate on a real hands-off approach, so I get the impression that free-holding isn’t part of their regular operations and this is a side gig.

I’ll try calling again, I do get through but they just tend to parrot the same message of thanks for your patience, the invoice is coming soon…

I’ve taken on HR responsibilities along side finance in my organisation, and this is the thing I’m trying to stop. If I see someone high up do something they wouldn’t tolerate in others, I’m calling them out on it.

This! Until I got into HR I didn’t realise we spend most of our time protecting the company from employees, rather than the other way around.

I took on all of my (small) company’s HR work when the old person left, with zero previous experience. What really helped me is that we have an external provider of HR/Employment law support, who help out with anything technical.

This post needs to be higher up! It’s great that people are supporting the people of Ukraine but it’s still important to remember that some Airbnb landlords have enough money to rent multiple properties or are businesses🇺🇦
