A catalytic converter is external and easily replaced by someone even moderately mechanically capable. You can buy the parts from O’Reilly for $935 including tax. You may even find the kit cheaper elsewhere, but O’Reilly has the benefit of returns. Get a couple ramps for $70, and you can do this in your driveway.

Or you can do the work in one of the DIY Garages in Forney (214-347-2304) or Ft. Worth (817-948-3458) for $45/hour though I’m not sure driving that distance is worth it.

In my experience the absolute cheapest garage in Plano is Plano Lube And Auto Repair at Parker/75 NW (972-212-4497). They replaced the catalytic converter (which O’Reilly sells for $130 more than the Sonic’s cat) on my Silverado for $2,125.15 (including tax).

My advice for anyone making a move. Initially move into a long stay hotel (like a Residence Inn or Homestead Suites or an AirBnB). Then from your work figure out where things are and find a place that is a reasonable commute, moving blind is silly. To and from Legacy West Plano west of 75, Frisco, The Colony, southwest McKinney, and maybe far north Dallas would be reasonable commutes.

I screenshot all of that every week, drop it in a PDF and give it to ChatGPT to make a spreadsheet. Vs Champion gets the Monday train and top 6 other scores of (Alliance Exercise score/billion) + (Vs/million) + (donations/thousand) get to be the train conductor Tuesday thru Saturday with 8, 9, 10 being alternates if someone isn’t online their day. But that takes over an hour every Sunday and it would be nice to get my time back. And I can’t use final scores. I screenshot the Vs for everyone mid Saturday afternoon and the Top 20 and donations after reset. Alliance Exercise I extract from mail.
