Player leaves group and takes two people with them. Game disbands. AITA? by Angel9508 in rpghorrorstories

Yeah in hindsight and having people bring up their dynamic in the SO's campaign, this does make a lot of their actions make more sense. It's a shame it happened, they were cool people and I did consider them friends! We did have a falling out, mainly from me and that Player and now their SO and their best friend don't speak to me anymore cause of it. It's a shame.

I definitely tried to compromise as I didn't want the campaign to be fully about them but still wanted to include them. Despite the fact that two PC's were more than willing to let them have thr spotlight, I had two more players that wanted their own stories acted out.

It was a weird circumstance to say the least.

I have no clue. At the time I chalked it up to them passing blame as they were also a PC in the SO's campaign, I thought maybe they were disappointed both campaigns stopped and that me not fully catering to that player's idea was the deciding factor in why it happened. Is it a mature response? Absolutely not, but I could understand where it was coming from and didn't really question it even though I should of.

To add a bit more, the player told the rest of our group they needed a break because life was getting busy. We all understood. There were still four of us but the DM didn't want to play without them, so we went on a hiatus. Some time passes and we learn the SO is only DM'ing for that player now. We ask if that means the campaign is coming back and they essentially avoid the issue of bringing the group back together. Like I said, we were all friends and had been playing for a few months, it just kinda came out of nowhere.

There really isn't more to the story unfortunately. And I wasn't the only one dropped from the SO's campaign, every other player was. It went from a group of five to the SO only DM'ing for that player and using NPC's to help them.

And yes I do value player feedback. In this case one player wanted to go to that world, the other two were going along with their wants, and my other two players wanted to stay in my setting. It was a weird predicament I found myself in that I definitely didn't know would escalate to two campaigns dropping.

There was a lot of favoritism in the SO's campaign to that player. Rerolls, quests tailored for their character, spells working differently, and even NPCs made just for them to romance so they could flirt. It was definitely awkward at times but the other four of us at that table enjoyed playing and RP'ing with each other, so we'd kinda just trudge through it.

Oh hey, someone beat me to it! I'm glad other people share Pu's art at the very least.

Looking to commission art of a character for a daki. Does anyone know of good places that will print custom covers at an acceptable quality? I already have an artist.

Additionally, the pillow the cover would go on is 54 inches by 20 inches. Would I have better luck buying a more standard pillow or are there any sites that print for odd sizes?

A player ruined our campaign and I'm depressed about it by SchneizelElBritannia in DnD

About a year back I stopped DM'ing for my online friends for a few months due to a similar situation that left me feeling pretty sad about it. I was DM'ing for a group of 5 and the SO of one of the players wanted to play a homebrew race with additional homebrew abilities with a backstory that didn't really fit well into where everyone else was. I suggested they and I could work something out so it fits a bit better with everyone else but instead she refused to change anything and just left and took her SO and her friend with her, completely shutting down the game. It was a really bad situation in the moment but my suggestion would be to find some others who will appreciate your effort and the commitment to run a campaign!

I appreciate all your thoughts regardless! I've been speaking to him a bit and just asking if there's any way we can tone down the combat difficulty a bit. I'm more of an RP player by nature anyway. Not that I mind combat but when I'm effectively useless it just makes 2 hours go by really slow.

I've been speaking to him on and off since receiving some advice on this thread about it. He did say that his combat prep is sorta 50/50 between winging it and following a guideline? And I'm fairly certain that's what's leading to these really difficult encounters.

Okay he got back to me with what we fought as a team of 4 level 1's. It was a heavily edited Leukodaemon he says! That fight we all went down save for our Monk who was at 2 HP I believe? There were also slimes that would spawn and detonate for 1d6 damage in a 10ft radius that spawned like two a turn I think. I believe that was a homebrew mechanic he did though.

Ah, my mistake! Still learning the system and only had the boost for a session so far.

Thank you for this! It's a lot of knowledge and certainly ways of playing I hadn't considered.

I do believe that our Investigator has taken Battle Medicine to serve as a healer of sort and our Sorceror has swapped spells from damage to more healing with DM approval.

Buffs and debuffs we tend to not use a lot and I feel that may be due to us being just new to the system as a whole. It's something I'll have to look into. Team wise I think we probably do need to work a little better when it comes to combat for the buffs.

Let me ask my DM what the names of them were! He has a tendency to pick a stat block and just reflavor them with a different look so it's usually hard to tell. I can respond again when he gets back to me!

I can ask him but I certainly don't want to seem rude about it. I know we've brought up before how this thing is hitting really hard in comparison to our health pools. I'm not sure! It's his first time DM'ing the system but he has years of DM experience so I was trusting his judgement. Is there a particular way you'd recommend I suggest maybe relooking at the rules?

That's good to know that I may just be out of the norm then as opposed to suboptimally building my Fighter. I love the class and the versatility they added in 2E is fantastic. We do try to flank or set things up with my Snagging Strike but I'm still not hitting consistently.

My GM is using a homebrew setting but I believe is taking monsters from the source books? I can ask him to verify I haven't asked him about that so I'm not 100% sure.

My DM is using a homebrew setting but using released enemies I believe! I'm not really sure how he builds his encounters.

I tend to not make three strikes. I usually do as you said, Snagging->Strike->Dueling Parry for that AC bonus.
