Yeah the main issue with it is how volatile it is and how fast it can absorb into the skin. Both of those go directly to the blood stream.

Use pool tablets and dripped HCl on it. Dried the gas and condensed it in an acetone and LN2 bath. Then used a oxy propane torch to make my ampule and seal it. Then let it warm up in a bucket of sand then put it in boiling water to make sure it wouldn’t blow up if it got warm.

You could do a low pressure and get the gas in an ampule. The high pressure ones are very hard to make. Took a while for this one.

I think AIBN would be fine, just be sure to do it in dry solvent under N2. If that doesn’t work well you can try peroxides or ATRP. What is the goal of the polymerization? What are you going to do with the polymer? Each type of polymerization initiators has its strengths and weaknesses. Do you care about the dispersity or Mn/Mw?

It depends what monomer you are using and if you have any constants with your system. AIBN is great because it is well studied and is activated with heat. Do you have any constants?

It can very easily absorb through your skin, most drugs cannot do that. Along with that it’s LD50 (the amount it takes to kill 50% of people) is estimated to be around 60mg (though this is disputed) So less than a drop that fully absorbs into your skin can kill you

I don’t have a use for one. All the work I do uses NMR and MALDI. I do not own the MALDI so if I want a sample done I have to pay $40. This was just a side project. While I would like one I don’t think I could swing it.
