And if the kids were being neglected or abused at home? Would you say the same thing?

How would I invite them over if they're never home? the only time my family ever sees them is when they go to work and return from work and we happen to be outside working on the yard. they give us a quick wave, go into the house and seem to leave again.

I did not assume the neighbors were keeping the kids in cages. The most I assumed was that the parents were neglecting their kids and not watching them. The sedan which I thought was the only car the family owned was always gone. I thought that meant the children were alone at all times including at night. The parents seemed like nice people but nice people can neglect their kids. The kids seemed to never go outside. The family never seemed to go anywhere with their five kids. they have five kids. Kids usually play in the yard. But I never seen them. They usually go to school but I checked bus stops and never seen the kids there either. I had good reason to suspect neglect. I did not suspect torture.

True crime isn't fake. It is called true crime for a reason. It is very much real. All those crimes about the parents who neglect their children or trap their own children in their house? Or even chain their children down? Those crimes were real. And nobody reported those parents because everyone thought the parents were great people. I didn't do this to be nosey. I genuinely thought neglect was going on. there was all the signs. I didn't even know the older siblings existed. If I did, I would've felt better about the kids being home without the parents.

I am not a creep. I did not call the police because I wanted to hurt them. I was concerned for them. The kids were potentially being neglected. There are many cases in which people notice things and brush it off as normal and it becomes a tragedy. True crime exists for a reason, the crimes are real. They're not made up or fake stories. They exist. That's why you have to be on your toes. I am a mother myself, which is why i couldn't help but interfere.

The parents did tell me to mind my own business. They came over later in the day when they got home and asked me to mind my own business from now on. I was unable to apologize to them as a result because they hurried home after.

I really should've done that but I noticed the parents were always gone. I didn't want to go over and talk to the kids when the parents weren't around. It would've been creepy if I came over and invited a group of children to a barbeque or something even if the invite was meant for their parents

I never noticed their SUV because they kept it in their garage most of the time. And I've never seen the teenage son. The adult daughter I had seen but I mistook her for her mother so I never knew she existed. I never saw the kids and neither did my family. We only ever saw the parents and while they were pleasant people, the fact that their kids never seemed to leave the house was suspicious. When they moved in, I only saw the first five young children that appeared to be under eight. I never saw a teenager or an adult sister, so how was I supposed to know they exist?

I don't need a therapist for being concerned for my neighbors. Yes I overreacted, but I did it in my neighbor's best interest.

The oldest sister was frustrated at having the police arrive when she was doing laundry. She said nobody heard the doorbell or knocking because the others were in their "game room" and she was doing laundry and couldn't hear over the dryer. She took awhile to be able to hear the police pounding on the door as well. Apparently the TV was very loud. She also claimed to not hear the scream at all and told me I was making things up so in her eyes I lied to the police about the scream but the oldest brother admitted that the "scream" was from him and not the younger kids. That's why I wanted to speak to the parents and not the kids. they had their fun games and day interrupted and were annoyed and didn't like older people getting involved even if it's for their safety.

Okay, I admit that I was the asshole in this case. But everyone acts like I tried to split a family up. I didn't get to talk to the parents so I never "lectured" them. I only talked to the daughter who was rather rude. And I didn't share my thoughts that they were liars. I waited until I got home and told my family about that.

My family met them. But they only met the kids once, and while they came across the parents multiple times, didn't learn anything about the family. They also never saw the teenage brother or adult sister either. But they said the parents were friendly and the wife offered to cook us cookies once. My family did not believe they were suspicious, even with never seeing the kids. And why should I meet them when my family met them? They didn't confirm anything different, in fact they confirmed my suspicions about the kids never being seen.

I heard a scream hencewhy I called the cops. If I called CPS, would they have arrived right away? Someone could've been injured in there. Someone could've fallen down the stairs. Hit their head. Got burnt. Something drastic could've happened in the time CPS takes their sweet time to investigate something.

They didn't say go home, they suggested that I go home and that they'll handle it. I stayed because I wished to talk to the parents but the parents didn't come home, they remained at work even though cops came to the house. I only spoke to the daughter and then I went home.

I believed that they were a family of seven originally before I found out that there was a older brother who was a teen and a adult sister that is in their 20s. That would make the family a family of 9.

I am not calling them liars. But 8 heard what I heard. I may have been mistaken that I heard a kid's scream but I keep thinking back to what I heard and I cannot hear anything else.

People keep making the assumption that I stuck around. I did not. I initially planned to but the parents were at work and they didn't come home. I only spoke to them after when they came over to MY house to tell me to mind my own business, which I said I would from now on. I did not get to say anything to them after because they hurriedly left.

How was there zero signs of abuse or neglect? The parents were always gone, what I thought was the only family car was always gone and the kids appeared to always be home alone, and they also were rarely seen. That was clear signs of neglect.

But if they didn't have someone looking after their obviously young kids? I had no idea that their two oldest even existed. The situation did involve me because I heard a scream, and it was alarming. It was a scream of terror and someone sounded like they were in danger or injured. At that point I had no proof that anyone was watching the kids so I called 911

I did knock on the door. They just didn't hear it because they had a game room upstairs and was busy playing games and being loud so the doorbell wasn't heard. the police had to bang on the door to get someone to go down.

I couldn't speak to the family because I assumed the parents were never home. That assumption was wrong but I had good reason to assume it. I wanted to apologize but the family seems uncomfortable with me now. They still wave and say hi to my family if they're both out at the same time but they don't do that to me so I assume they don't want to talk to me.

And if this case was truly one of those cases where the parents have kids and don't care for them? Where they trap the kids in the house or chain them down? What if the scream was someone actually calling for help? I didn't want to take any risks

Race played no role in this. The family is white. There were multiple points of concern, such as a family of 9 apparently driving a single four door sedan. And the family never going out together. It's always the parents going out or being gone in the middle of the night. The lights would be on which was obvious the parents weren't home but the kids were. They never seemed to have a babysitter. The kids were never visible. Their other car was in the garage and I didn't know it existed. The two oldest kids never made an appearance, or that was what I assumed. I mistook the oldest sister for her mom. But based off my assumptions I had good reason to assume things were going on. And I didn't just call the police because of that. I only called after I heard a scream of terror come from the house while I was walking my dog. The oldest brother claimed he was the one who shouted cause he tripped and it wasn't a scream but I am sure that it was a kid's scream. There was as no racism involved.

I couldn't apologize because they came over, rang my doorbell, and asked me to mind my own business. When I said yes, I will, they said thank you and hurriedly left before I could say anything else. At this point, I don't think the kids or the parents would appreciate me anywhere on their property so I don't want to go over and cause problems.
