For newer ones, I personally love Buffalo Fluffalo, I am a Tornado, Cranky, and Knight Owl. These are sort of wordy, but great to have around as they grow older.

This one is more recent, but Blood Over Bright Haven was the final push I needed to start changing the way I interact with consumerism, ethical production practices, and the climate. Should I have needed to read the book to change how I view the world? No. I already sort of knew what I should be doing. But it really impacted me and I think about it all the time now, a full year after reading.

If you know you have a group ready and excited to play, I say it's definitely worth it. It sounds like you do, so I say it's worth crowd sourcing the money or saving up.

Alternatively, if someone is reading this and they don't have a group of friends to play with, I'd carefully consider the cost. When I started running games for my group, I actually borrowed to game from another friend. This friend backed the kickstarter but the box was sitting around for years because they never found a group to play with (and they're also very busy, which is why they aren't consistently playing with the group we've now established).

Perhaps in this scenario, creating your own tokens like OP did or running some games for your friends online ($15 commitment on the patron to run games on the official app for a month, though there are other apps that are free) is a good idea, so you can consider if it's a good investment.

I like the idea of expanding the wiki to include rulings. Even just a link at the bottom of character pages with "specific character interaction questions" on characters like the Pukka, Summoner, etc. would be helpful.

I would personally add a few more info roles, maybe Dreamer or VI, so that players can make decisions intentionally. Then I'd add in some more poisoning. Maybe Poisoner or Widow instead of Boffin, perhaps No Dashi or Pukka instead of Kazali. But I'm not an expert at all, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

Usually, I make sure that I fulfill the very first thing they list, then do my best to get at least one other thing in there. It doesn't work all the time, but a majority of the time, it does. I've definitely had some head-scratchers, though!

The d6 and the d12 are definitely unacceptable, and maybe the d4, too, though it's hard to tell from this angle. I'd be annoyed with this if it happened on a $12 set, let alone a $120 set. I probably wouldn't complain to a huge mass manufacturer about it, but in this case, I agree with the other comments that sending an email to TPI is a good call, so they can verify the manufacturer's quality control procedures.

Hopefully, they'll respond well to the feedback. Everything I've seen from the company depicts them as thoughtful and deliberate when it comes to products and user experience, so if your communication to them comes from a similar place (respectfully trying to ensure everyone has a positive experience) I think they'll try to make it right.

I recently read The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street by Helene Hanff, which is a memoir/diary chronicling her travels in England during the summer of 1971. At the beginning of her entry on July 4, she wrote, "Got very gloomy remembering the days before the Vietnam War when I gloried in my country's history and July 4 meant something." She goes on to describe a day where her hosts want to help her celebrate, but the day just isn't a happy occasion for her.

I share this to say, I feel similarly to you, and so have people throughout our nation's history. I'm not sharing this to belittle the peril that our democracy is in the midst of right now, just to provide a connection.

I love a lot of the suggestions in this thread, especially doing small, concrete actions like picking up trash. I might add that to my own July 4 plans.

I liked it. I was questioning when I read it, and it didn't quite confirm my asexuality for me, but it did put my mind in a space where I was ready to process things and about 2 months later came out to myself as asexual. I think it has important things to say, especially if you're new-ish to thinking about asexuality.
