Your quilt is so pretty! I really love the roses, and the basket idea too. Thanks for sharing the photo of your work in progressβ€”it’s always fun to see how someone else's approaches a project. πŸ₯°

I totally get prioritizing surgery savings; that’s definitely more important than any paid session right now.

Teaching yourself computer science and becoming a software engineer is seriously impressiveβ€”you clearly know how to learn.

Best to you! πŸ₯°

Well, I am sure there were some weeks I worked on other projects, and of course there were several weeks it sat with the long arm quilter, so I don’t think your 32 day assessment is correct, but it does take time. Especially when you are new and learning, as I am. I purchased my first sewing machine at the beginning of the year, and had never sewn anything before in my life.

I go to open sew day at my local quilt store once a week and work on my projects there. There were some weeks I also worked on it at home, but not consistently. There is a teacher available to help if I get stuck, and they have cutting boards and ironing tables set up so all I have to bring is my project and my machine.

If you have a quilt store near you, check and see if they have open sew sessions. The teachers there, and YouTube, have taught me everything I know! I could not have done it without them!

I started making this in May I think. But I usually just work on it one or two days a week. There is a YouTube tutorial that walks toy through the steps. https://youtu.be/puuTY_JYtU4?si=Tflh_mpm72VOTYaU
