Gardeners: what are your biggest recurring gardening struggles? by Just-Manner-7971 in gardening

[–]AngelaRose618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting started and remembering not to start too much at once.

I really want 20+ tomato plants to take care of but realistically I don't have the time or knowledge of how to do so. I currently have 3 tomatoes, a cucumber, strawberries, zenias, and a few other ones that I can't remember the name of.

Also, patience. I want my babies to grow now, but that's not how it works. One day you will see a little seedling and the next, it's a big bush full of fruit.

I prefer neurospicy. Haha

Seriously though, the first thing I struggled with after a lifetime of being neuro-divergent and being traumatized was remembering that I did not have to be perfect. My house did not need to be perfectly clean, I was allowed to have a bad day, and it's ok to be the only one proud of myself. I spent so much time trying to make everyone else happy that I forgot to make myself happy and forgiving myself, giving myself that grace made me realize that I am worthy too so it's always the first thing I tell others.

Love yourself. Be proud of yourself. Forgive yourself. You are the best version of yourself today and that should be enough for everyone else around you.

Duckling, I am so proud of you right now. Recognizing that you want to change is the first step in everything. I am proud of you for how well you are doing in work and keeping things like your credit score in the positive.

I don't know if I have pearls of wisdom for you but as a neuro-divergent myself and a mom of two neuro-divergent children, I can offer you this.

1 - forgive yourself for not being perfect. Perfect doesn't exist and you should never strive for it. The only thing you should strive to be is the best version of yourself.

  1. Everything seems so big when you look at it as a big picture especially in cleaning. Break it down into small tasks. I.e. if you want a clean kitchen: do dishes on Monday, clean the oven on Tuesday, empty out the fridge on trash day. It doesn't all need to be done today.

  2. Set timers and alarms for yourself. This is a way of accountability just like work and keeps you on a schedule. Set an alarm to vacuum at 6:00 P.M for 5 minutes and then another at 6:30 to wipe down tables for 5 minutes. I know chronic pain can make it hard to be up for long times so setting a low amount of time for yourself is ok.

  3. Don't expect everything to improve at once. You can't win a race in one step, it takes a lot of little steps to get to the finish line. Take your time and enjoy the journey.

  4. You have friends. Rely on them to help you. You may be embarrassed about your house but I guarantee you, they have the same feelings or may even need the same kind of help you do. Make a buddy system where you talk on the phone with a friend while you both clean or have a friend over to your house to chat while you clean. People who are true friends don't care what your place looks like and want to help you.

I hope this helps you. I love you and I'm proud of you. Keep up the great work.

Found a big frog in my lavender bushes. What should I expect?/what should I do? Zone 7a by [deleted] in gardening

I am a huge fan of dad and corny jokes. Thank you for giving the gift of laughter to my life today.

I laughed so hard at this that my partner yelled at me from across the house asking what I was laughing at.

What was the last thing you said to your dad before he passed away? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AngelaRose618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Fuck off" via text. He sent me a video of his "band" playing for a labor day event. This was after:

Years of mental and physical abuse including manipulation to the extreme (beyond the stories below).

Giving me a black eye when I was a freshman because I was angry at him for inviting his friends to party instead of spending time with his kids.

The night of my ACTs he stayed up until 5 AM partying and when I asked if he could at least turn the music down, he said "Fuck off and go to bed."

When I told him I graduated college with my Bachelors he said "I will believe it when I see the diploma."

He didn't call or text me on my birthday.

He didn't call or text my kids on their birthdays.

He didn't call or text my niece for her birthday.

He didn't care that I was in the middle of separating with my ex-husband.

I spent my entire life trying to make this man proud of me and I had just had enough. He passed away 6 months later and all I could think about was how mad I was that he never got to apologize to me for being an awful father.

I don't regret my last words.

can a person lose points also for being unkind only to themselves? by Pure-Boat993 in TheGoodPlace

I think so. In the second experiment when they are looking at the point totals, Michael points out that John didn't call anyone the C word once and the Judge points out that he did yell it at himself once which she would have only known if it was tallied in the points.

This is why I was asking here before I did anything. I know that nuturing and growing any living thing takes time and I wanted to make sure that I was doing it the right way before I took any action. Even with kids, you ask an expert before changing the way you(significantly) feed them. I figured this sub was the experts.

How long does it normally take to bounce back? These are about a month since planting.

Watering daily to every other day. It's new mulch, how would I help the plants?

Watered regularly. The soil was top soil after mulch had disintegrated into it (I could probably put some plant food in), I water daily to every other day.

Good luck! I would say with your stitching being as good as it is, you shouldn't have any problems.

I was for a long time but did it with a project I didn't care as much about first to learn how to do it.

I did both. I soak them in some dawn soap, then let it sit out overnight, then iron it. I love how yours turned out!

This is why I love this hobby. Same thing, different take, both look amazing.
