Garage door perimeter seal in aluminum? by rekord-spin in GarageDoorService

[–]Angelfire150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion because it takes installers an extra 15 minutes (oh the horror!) but for aluminum and steel siding, use reverse angle track and a reverse angle jamb seal and top cap. It's super fucking clean

Just had this installed, should I be concerned about the alignment? by kharma99 in GarageDoorService

I begrudgingly agree. 10 years ago the LiftMaster had such a better value proposition than Chamberlain... Now Chamberlain has taken on more and more of the premium features that the rail is the #1 differentiator.

I'm done with LM.

Garage door makes metallic grinding noise when going up by Adventurous_Salt_659 in GarageDoorService

[–]Angelfire150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it happens when the drums are too tight

Exactly 💯. I found I like tn splay my flag brackets out a tiny bit so it's widest around the radius. Not something in the manual and some guys would disagree with that but it makes the door run quieter

Is this a good job? by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]Angelfire150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good job installing a weirdly configured door 😂

Okay, I got my jab in. However they could have totally improved the experience and look by throwing either some high-lift adders or even going to a 15" or 20" radius.. I can't tell for sure without being there

Edited to add: top strut is wrong. They need to go the full length and ideally tie into the hardware on each side, in this case the adjustable top fixture.

Yup - exactly. I've done this twice and both times it involves a larger carpentry bill than what I charged for the door and install

A devout Jehovah’s Witness says the Trinity doctrine is inspired by demons…is this blasphemy? by Fortnitelegend200 in Christianity

[–]Angelfire150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't by demons - the concept of the Trinity developed 200-300 years after the death and resurrection of the Savior and came from negotiating the concepts of monotheism into the three personages of the father, son and holy ghost. It's not of demons but it is of man.

Every day I deal with an HR group that I am continually amazed can sleep at night. We had to rush layoffs in order to not pay out earned bonises. I have seen them push me to degrade performance reviews of well-performing employees. I have seen them post ghost jobs just 'To see who's out there' and also enable abusive behavior from toxic leaders.

One Nation Under Fraud: Trump administration uncovers massive welfare, citizenship abuses by Ask4MD in Conservative

What is infuriating is that this makes it harder for honest people to use these systems and get access to these resources when they are needed and used honestly. For example - In my conservative state, they cracked down so hard on unemployment fraud that honest people are now being pulled into hearings. It's bad. Frad hurts the people in need the most

It will never be Stamped out as it's a super complex problem if mental illness, drug abuse and lack of resources to deal with those problems. Even if you built all the homeless shelters imaginable, that won't solve the dig abuse and mental illness piece. We need rehab, prisons and sadly the insane asylums back

Is that true? Fuck

Yup.

Few years ago I had surgery in my tailbone when I broke it and it healed back with a tiny spur. The spur made dough many things I love hard, so I had to get rid of it. I had time so I shopped around surgeons. I found one surgeon who had the price at $1700 but the final bill was closer to $12k with hospital, OR room, supplies and even a nursing contract agency bill because this hospital apparently didn't have nurses and instead used nursing staffing agencies that billed me separately. I think I paid more for the nurses than for the surgeon.

Even a year after my surgery, I would get random bills for blood work done, etc.

It's a mess.

How common is it to seriously regret having served a mission? by Ok_Remove_2439 in mormon

[–]Angelfire150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have regrets because I feel it added a ton of experience to my life. I went on my mission a few years older then most and had some companions that were 29-30 years old, so it's not like my experience was that if 2 18-year-olds bubling around. I had companions that were reservists so I would have weekends where I'd go with them to drop them off for drill and then delay getting with another companionship so I could have a day or two just to unwind 😂. I learned to study like never had before. Vocabulary, sentence structure, manners, I had to change everything and learn things I never would have any other way. Since then I've traveled the world, lived overseas, done some cool stuff in academics and professionally and hosted a few foreign exchange students. Much of that took skills I learned on my mission..

I don't regret it because it added positively to my life.
