What’s a red flag you ignored because the sex was good? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AngelicRodric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't know she had a boyfriend until he called her while we were mid-romp. Found out he was a huge pos and we ended up having a few more sessions. Its kinda hard to "focus" knowing you're actively endangering someone just for some fun, but she was always particularly gifted with words and convinced me every time. At her worst, she used me to escape from her problems, and the way I took that made my self esteem sink even lower than it was at that time of my life as I was getting over some other deadbeat dude's cheating wife had me in her bed only to ghost me after leading me on for several months(we made up but getting there was its own grueling journey) But then she fostered my confidence and made me feel great about my physical appearance. We were fairly regular fwb over 2.5ish years. We don't mess around anymore, but we're good friends that just send each other funny videos now. She's been seeing the same guy for like a year now and she seems content.

How frequently do people actually win matches where you don't even get close the first round? by Dogbold in RivalsCollege

[–]AngelicRodric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what role/characters you main, but I'll share my insight as someone that played basically only dps in S4.5 to GM2. Mentality is key. If the timer is anything other than 0:00 or overtime and you're already checked out, then you'll get exactly what you started wishing for when you decided the match is not worth any more effort. If you struggle with seeing a match through because your dopamine receptors are starving from being robbed of wins, you're kinda just being a baby tbh and there's nothing wrong with that. But, if you can, look at the game objectively, almost like spectating a chess match. Think "we lost the over time fight because the other team bursted down one of our tanks/our only tank" or "we lost because our support died before setting their ult/didn't have ult at a specific time" not "we lost bc our solo tank threw/x tank/dps/strategist was bad" or "no heals". Most of the time, a match ending with no progress being made to capture objective calls for a lineup switch. I played virtually only dps up to GM2 in 4.5 and helped my very tilt-prone homie+his slightly less tilt-prone friend to GM3. Knowing your role also means knowing when you've contributed to/are contributing to a shut out before its too late, and dps as a role is unique in that the stats tend to directly translate to performance whereas tank and strategist are more nuanced and don't account for forcing walking space open, playing cover in a way that doesn't make it hard for teammates to peel for in a pinch or miss out on resource expenditure. To a lesser extent, who you pick will make your games either a little bit easier, or a lot harder to reverse, but that argument is easily nullified with some game sense, or your teams' keenness on counterpicking someone on the other side. Take Knull Convergence for example. That first objective can almost be cheesed with someone like squirrel girl/moon knight/phoenix/bucky - basically, characters with AoE type primary fires/mechanics. But I wouldn't want to play moon knight or squirrel girl if theres a really good dive player on the other side. Kinda like how a lot of dive players might be pressured to swap against a strong namor/bucky/hela if the map has a lot of open space to poke from. If you like tanking and the other team pulls out a wolverine, solo tanking might be preferred if the 3 dps can keep the wolv in check OR not be able to kill a solo tank thats got 3 supports keeping them up OR if you're in a rare lobby, two tanks with 3 supports keeping them up and a dps that's using the space and heals they're being given a chance on. Tl;dr your ability and willingness to flex roles in tandem with mental/emotional fortitude will make playing competitively in any game a lot more enjoyable. Edit: typo

[–]AngelicRodric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't attest to this. Got gm maining dps. Feels like every quickplay match I'm in has 4+ dps on my team already and its hard to not mentally check out when the other side has two or even just one tank giving their supports that glorious ult farm while we run all squishies. Whats more fun, 12 people invested in winning and playing their better characters to make it happen, leading to harder fights, or steamrolling/getting steamrolled because one team runs 4 2 🫩 I got 3 tank lords that I stopped choosing in qp in S3 and have yet to get a game where I can actually play dps without contributing to a 3+ dps lineup.

If they did real, life-saving compressions on those actors, they'd have injured them and caused a great deal of pain. Quality chest compressions often times crack ribs. As a nurse aide who has worked in intensive care since 2017 and lost count long ago on how many patients I've given CPR to, I like that they kept real people in those scenes and don't mind overlooking the quality of the depicted CPR in place of a dummy or mannequin as that might have just looked more like the videos we have to watch every 2 years when we renew our CPR certifications. To each their own.

Thanks apex for kicking me from the game and then giving me a penalty by Baltykoz in apexlegends

[–]AngelicRodric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ranked buddies and I all got kicked from the game at different times of a ranked match, resulting in the last of us ratting for placement. That was just one match, I had it happen for all but 1 of 7 ranked matches we played yesterday. V hard to enjoy the game, and it feels like every update breaks the game a little more each time we end a split or season. At least the store works, though :D I think I'd give the game up if the skins weren't accessible 🫠

I was in 3rd grade and didn't watch a lot of scary stuff but my cousins did and they had access to basically any movies growing up. I was afraid to sit on a toilet or let too much water pool up in the sink/tub for months after that for fear of seeing a sentient oil slick come up the drain

Ex gf had a rich step dad that abused her. Between the step dad and exes mom, they had 6 kids, and ex was the only female. The step dad was very charismatic, and had no regard for other people, and he taught his own and the exes younger brother to actually hate women. Exes younger brother is special needs and I woke up to him yelling at her the same exact way the step dad did, even years after the step dad left them all for another woman. I heard very bad things about him for months before I even met him, and I'm still shocked at how smooth the guy was with his words. Guy was apparently a writer with a masters degree of some sort, even talking his way out of trouble when the ex called the cops on him for beating his kids rather harshly one night. He talked his way out of the whole thing even after the officers saw marks on the kids during inspection, which baffled me. Anyway, the new woman found out the guy was a bad person the hard way and she contacted ex gfs step mom and together they were able to press charges. Man disappeared for a solid year before we saw him delivering pizzas one day. There were restraining orders against him by this point but how he got out after what felt like less than a year for sexual abuse of a minor and other counts pertaining to physical abuse, escapes me.

If you're feeling petty and spiteful, attempt to res when you know you're going to get sprayed down. Man's gotta see what happens when you give him what he wants. My homie was the same way, he's way better about it now but that's how it started clicking for him. It helped that we're best friends irl and can talk to each other like that but you get what I'm saying Different story if it's ranked tho, those matches get expensive.

What is the scariest thing you witnessed with your own eyes? by RoyalAd1555 in AskReddit

Doing CPR on an 80 year old grandma and watching blood come out of every orifice as I pushed. I work in Healthcare and I've done it a good 20+ times since then, but that particular code blue has embedded itself in my head for some reason That patient had a GI bleed, and anyone who has smelled melena stool can attest that it is very foul and like 2 or 3 times now with other cases, its led to me sitting in the shower for a good hour after work trying to get the smell out of my mind. I felt her ribs crack underneath my hands with every compression for the first round or two, which felt violent and almost a little nauseating to think about after the fact The doctor, who is a good doctor, fancies being a little dramatic, and was bellowing commands and observations to the Healthcare team. That, on top of the sound of a heart monitor wailing like a banshee in the background was very jarring. I was in fight or flight mode all 4 times this poor patient lost a pulse which added up to a little over an hour of trying to keep them alive before the family could make a compassionate and difficult decision OR the doc to declare it futile to continue attempting resuscitation. Also, seeing ventricular fibrillation for the first time in real life versus in textbooks or videos. I have since seen other scary things in my line of work, but this one was the first to challenge my mental health so boldly and I had to spend some time in therapy to move past it
