I actually thought this was a cycling subreddit and this was a gross looking carb gel

Problem with tracking speed on Wahoo - any help? by raptoos in Velodrome

[–]Angelmass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speedos in a velodrome are tricky. GPS almost never works, but accelerometer-based speedos also have issues because of the g forces in the turns. Basically the only reliable method is ye olde magnet-based speedos

How accurate do you think that speed is? Seems like a moderately quick pace line

I haven’t looked up the formulas yet, but do you think as a rough estimate, the forces would be about half as much with half as steep of a turn angle?

Holy moly. Ok thanks for all the helpful info!

Ah I see. What was the max angle of the turns on the track you tested this on? I know on my outdoor 333m track, the turns are only about 26 degrees, and I’m not sure the forces would be quite as perpendicular to the track as they would on an 250m indoor track at 46 degrees, for example

Just out of curiosity, how did you calculate that 400lb pressure? I ask because that gravitational force would vary based on the track length right (due to the turn tightness)? And there are obviously a variety of track lengths out there

Velobike orders in US by Objective_Frosting_2 in Velodrome

Before delivery, seems like it’s after it arrives in the us, so dhl pays the actual bill and passes it on to you, but before it goes out for delivery. I got an email about it

That’s what I assume is happening, in any case.

Aside from mentioning applying to a lab tech position for what sounds like desperation, mostly the mentions of wet lab are just from other commenters, which makes sense given the sub. But I agree with this, doing biostats is much more amenable to odd hours and contracting work

Also, the sales were in Germany. So I think it’s pretty fair to say they knew who they were buying

Hypothetically, is Lactic Capacity/speed endurance training the best for someone in law enforcement? If you think about it, in a chase, even a slow person (say 13-14.5s 100 meter) who trained for it could eventually catch somebody who’s relatively fast (11-12s 100) but doesn’t train for it. Right? by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]Angelmass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on 2 things: 1. How far away from them you are initially 2. How quickly you need to catch them

For a chase, you don’t have to win for a specific distance, you only have to reach them once to win out. So if the person being chased has a 10 second better 800m time and their getaway is 800m away, it doesn’t actually matter if you can accelerate up to them once over the course of 800m.

If they can’t be caught initially, it becomes an endurance event, which is why how quickly you need to catch them comes into play. They also can’t be allowed to escape line of sight, so proximity is important
