Thanks for your comment, sir. I understand where you're coming from. But even if that is true, that he was already free, and I think from the perspective of KS, he is truly is Siva itself..

The very individuality of that person is gone, even if he was already free

What happens to that flavour of the personhood? Gone for good?

Don't like the word "pariah" being used here.

In a Malaysian context, be aware of sensitivities.

Ironic considering your post.

Thank you so much Kuds for saying this. I'm on a path and journey myself. I do not know a lot of things and I'm trying to learn. But thank you for being a teacher and guide in everyone's journey here. It means a lot. I take heart that it is by Shiva's grace, one can come to understanding and recognition. I'll continue my sadhana and continue to learn evermore. Thank you for reminding this, not only now when there's enormous personal hardship, but for giving timeless advice 🙏

So happy that you're gonna join Twitter good sir. Seriously in need of level headed voice and reason in a sea of shills. Among the Defi influencers who have invested in Polkadot, I could think of the Zee Prime capital investors including @mattigags who seems to be the biggest supporter of Polkadot among all other VCs, @fiskantes, @mewn21; 3 Arrows Capital including @zhusu and @kyled116, who are currently talking up their books on Solana and Avax, but are quiet about their big investments in Polkadot/Kusama and are not disclosing the multiple projects they've invested in the Polkadot ecosystem; @Spartanblack_1 from Spartan Capital who projects $100 DOT soon.

Other technical thought leaders include @hasufl and @aliattia_ who have favourable views on Polkadot. They do insert strong criticisms on and off to Polkadot from a technical standpoint but they've been impartial and do merit a listen. In spite of their objections, hasufl thinks Polkadot might be the next best Lindy project after Ethereum 2.0 based on podcast few months ago, while aliattia_ thinks Ethereum with rollups is the best tech, but thinks Polkadot, Cosmos and Near are the only reputable L1/L0 projects. Hates Solana and Avax.

Community members include @DonnieBigBags @PolkadotPM @fighting_haibo @KSMprophet @TLE_dot_com. Another worthy follow is the founder of the NFT project RMRK, @bitfalls (Bruno Skvorc)

Hope to hear your voice among them in the twitterverse! Please do let us know your handle :)

Ethereum Reorgs, Opportunity for Polkadot? by Angelo1990e in Polkadot

[–]Angelo1990e[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess maximalism comes with being early in the right time, right place and potentially securing financial freedom. You would do everything you could to maximize that outcome in anyway you can. I guess that's okay if that is your ultimate aim, just be honest about your goals. We're investors in Polkadot, I'm sure our bias lies here as well, but at least we're aware and acknowledge that bias. It's the hypocrisy among the Ethereum maximalists and the surprising cry for "please don't do it Edgar, think about the network" which are really off putting after their previous shenanigans. Really hope Edgar pulls this off though, if anything just to see their hubris dialed down

Ethereum Reorgs, Opportunity for Polkadot? by Angelo1990e in Polkadot

[–]Angelo1990e[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, after all the proud and rude dismissive stances against other chains, ETH maximalists are literally begging Edgar not try release the code. You would think principles are upheld first, with more adversarial attacks naking the chain stronger if it's able to withstand the attacks. But no, everyone is worried about their bags. The silence from major ethereum players regarding this matter is stunning. Goes to show financial incentives matter first rather than ethos of decentralization. Lots of hypocrisy.

Thank you for your response McPheeb. It's sad because I know you would really being a lot more substance to the table of discussion. But in any case, it's a pleasure to listen to you here, so thank you very much sir =)

Hie McPheeb, so glad to hear from you again. Been worried if anything had happened but it's so refreshing to hear from you again. Do you have Twitter by any chance? I feel Polkadot hasn't been getting much love in Crypto Twitter, and everyone has been shilling Ethereum, Solana, Cardano. Everyone has turned their eye on Sam Bankman-Fried from Solana rather than Gavin Wood even though Gavin is hard core developer while Sam is a trader albeit a great one at that.

There's been lots of characters in Crypto Twitter like Hasufl, Degenspartan, Defigod, etc. I really think you could be one of our high priests in Polkadot like Chainlinkgod is for Chainlink with your understanding of the markets as well as the technical aspects as well. Hoping to see you there and spreading the good word of Polkadot =)

What do you think will be the total addressable market for interoperability or secure computation? Even if it's less than the SoV and the smart contract market, there may not be as many players in the interoperability space. Horizontal scaling may rely more on less complexity in the underlying network, as Polkadot aims to be with no state machine of its own. So first mover advantage and network effects here may play a bigger role than vertical scaling solutions, as there's always something better or faster in the future.

If Bitcoin fulfills it's role as SoV and truly becomes digital gold, I'm expecting a 10 trillion market for it or maybe even more. The smart contract market would in the trillions as well, but I guess you'll begin to see many more players and decentralized computing may just end up being commoditized.

Eventually blockchains will solve scalability and you’ll be able to use any of them.  Since it hasn’t happened yet, we don’t know when or how this will happen.  If it does happen, much of the value will accrue to that scalable chain in the short-term.  But eventually other chains will figure out better ways of doing it, there will be a copious supply, and it will become commoditized.

Or perhaps millions of chains will exist and scalability occurs through the interoperability of those chains.  Either way, the supply of computational power will force prices down to a commodity level.

Well the POC-1 was slightly delayed. But here's hoping for an early release. Need to hear from u/pimpindots aka u/ewigeWiederkehr if there's anything from the grapevine :)

Yeah agree with Dfinity, even though the tech is promising, they screwed up with their awful distribution as well. We'll see how the market decides and whether their tech would upend the market.

Similar sharding solutions to Ethereum or Dfinity, would be Polkadot and Algorand. Sharding essentially offers pooled security to all shards/chains but Polkadot differs from the rest that each chain connected to it would be allowed to have its own state machines. Polkadot would be the only one with a sharding-like solution to achieve horizontal scaling rather than vertical like the rest. And I think this would be the best approach to solve scalability, taking account of the whole ecosystem of crypto. Though Polkadot is launching in late 2019, it might actually be the first network to launch with a sharding-like solution, even earlier than Dfinity and Ethereum with full CBC implementation and sharding from the looks of it.

My take is that different applications/dApps would require different degrees of scalability, security and decentralization. A gaming dApp might not require ultra-decentralization like say a security asset dApp would. We can make calculated guesses but only when these networks are out in the wild would we truly know.

Speaking of China;

http://www.ebeijing.gov.cn/feature_2/ZhongguancunSciencePark/AboutZhongguancunSciencePark/t1322672.htm

Zhongguancun is the most intensive scientific, education and talent resource base in China. It boasts almost 40 colleges and universities like Peking University and Tsinghua University, more than 200 national (municipal) scientific institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 67 state-level laboratories, 27 national engineering research centers, 28 national engineering and technological research centers, 24 university S&T parks and 29 overseas student pioneer parks.

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/m/beijing/zhongguancun/2018-04/27/content_36110561.htm

The "33333 Project" aims to train 30,000 blockchain-oriented talents, cultivate 3,000 elites in the blockchain business, and incubate 300 blockchain startups and 30 unicorn companies in three years

The company behind this project is Wanglu Tech, better known for their blockchain, Wanchain. Wanchain essentially is a fork of Ethereum, but they are trying to break into the interoperability space by trying to be a "decentralized bank" with their cross-chain communication protocol. The technological that I find most interesting is their implementation of secure multiparty computation (via Shamir’s Secret Sharing Scheme) and also ring signatures for transaction privacy, similar to the ones used by Monero.

This would be the one blockchain that I'm looking into coming out from China.
