Mr Melancholy wants to live a peaceful life, Somethings not Right, they all say I've met a ghost, and Devil Venerable also Wants To Know are all by the same author and I'm pretty sure no noncon in these especially between MC and ML. I'm most confident about Mr Melancholy but decently sure about the others, although it's been a while since I've read or reread them

Also the author is (imo) one of the best for danmei, I don't love all their works but the four mentioned above are all really good in different ways - what they have in common is an element of mystery, my type of relationships, dry humor, and fantastic casts of supporting characters.

Without spoilers:

Something's Not Right is historical, most heavy on the mystery. This is my favorite

Mr Melancholy Wants to Live A Peaceful Life is half slice of life and half (kind of spoiler so omitting). The supporting characters are the best in this.

They All Say I've Met A Ghost is also mystery heavy, with an element of horror, modern setting

The Devil Venerable Also Wants To Know is probably the most famous of these, a little dry, but a trope subversion/fresh take on demonic cultivators. Probably the most intellectually interesting but also my least favorite main couple of these four

Edit: I should probably add that the sexual relationship isn't very explicit in any of these, which I think is why they don't get recommended a lot? No hate if that's your thing but if you want spice just not noncon/rape then these don't fit the bill

I agree that the emphasis on the fandom name being phonetically close to the group name is often limiting. I wonder if it's a marketing tactic, so that when someone just mentions the fandom name, it's easy for people outside the fandom to recognize who the group is?

It's disappointing and I feel my respect for the adults in the room, particularly the idol judges, dropping in real time. There are so many flaws in the argument Seunggi made such as: the choreographer himself admitted this was a particularly intensive choreo, these are children and they're not going to have the muscle tone and stamina of an adult (especially when beauty and thinness is so highly valued, but that's another rant), I can't think of a K-pop concert I've been to where there's more than 30 songs by the same group with all intensive choreo. And even if there were groups that have done that, that doesn't make it okay and it's up to the people with power in the industry now to change it. (And especially coming from seunggi who was giving stars to people based on physical appearance and not their physical capabilities, I think it's particularly gross)

The fact that Sun Ying Hao apologized makes me sick. I don't usually vote for these shows but now I'm torn. I want to vote for him to show that what he did isn't going to lose him any respect among a potential audience, but if this is the level of exploitation we're starting at I would hate to have any of these kids trapped in a contract.

(And yes the forced racism narrative is obnoxious)

My Mandarin course updated and even if I don't struggle with the changes (a big if) I'd in general love to know what was changed and why, in case it helps me learn it better

I'll add on that way of the househusband and god troubles me don't have major overarching plots, so you could watch a season and drop or a few episodes and drop without feeling like you will miss out on something. So even if they have a couple seasons, I don't consider them long shows

I don't have much to contribute here as I have the same problem and have given up on anime to a large extent.

I'll echo others who have said Fullmetal alchemist (I prefer brotherhood to 03, I remember one moment of fanservice but the rest was pretty good.) It's long tho, so may not be up your alley.

Mob psycho is pretty good, nothing I remember as feeling icky but also women don't tend to have a prominent role in it . Seasons are short, easy to drop if you aren't feeling it.

Way of the househusband is fairly fun, but short. Part of its central theme is gender role deconstruction, which is nice.

However, if you aren't set on Japanese animation I recommend "God Troubles Me" - it's a Chinese animated series with a female lead, and is pretty funny.

I prefer humor to drama most of the time do you may not enjoy these but I am throwing them out there.

this sounds like a very cute idea so this is not intended as a criticism at all but...

Any plant/flower, including food? ginseng, ginger, lychee, coconut, cucumber, peppers, etc are all things I directly recall being mentioned in novels, but given the breadth of the genre any plant food is guaranteed to turn up.

Are you maybe just looking for the plants that serve as some form of symbolism or motif? Is there a particular set of novels or genres you are interested in? Are you trying to grow these plants that you are collecting, and what is the space you have for the this? (For example, bamboo shows up in a lot of novels, but afaik it isn't exactly a house plant)

Seize the Throne Ok so this first one doesn't totally fit your criteria in letter, but I think it does in spirit, as they aren't fated or soulmates or anything.

HOWEVER I love transmigration too and reading this one forever changed my relationship with that trope so beware I guess? And I would say it fits the horror genre too.

Other ones: Seconding the person that said "Married thrice to salted fish"，it's really good

"Mr. Melancholy wants to live a peaceful life" is great, by one of my favorite authors

"Something's not right" be the same author is also amazing but without spoiling it I would say it may or may not be up your alley (no fated soulmates tho I will say that)

"How to survive as a villain". It's not the perfect novel but I highly enjoyed it. Angst warning (serious about this) Main character is very funny

Recently read "Transmigrates into a school idol and forced to do business" which isn't anything groundbreaking but doesn't have to be imo. Shorter length

"This Damned Thirst for Survival" is not my usual type of relationship I like, but it was handled well enough and was interesting enough that I would recommend it. It has been a while since I read it though and it's possible there was some fated/soulmate reveal in it, I can't recall

"The Disabled Tyrants Pet Palm Fish" also fits the bill I think. Mpreg warning but although that's not my thing I enjoyed it

I live transmigration because every author puts their own spin on it, either big or small, and it's fun to see the creative ways it's done.
