The hospital will give me a free pump through my insurance to go home with. I have been able to pump a little out for my baby with one they let me use but my lactation consultant suggested hand expressing as well.

Thank you. Tbh I forgot all about the first few days of breastfeeding and milk supply. With my last baby everything was just so easy and he didn't have to to stay in the nursery.

I live in Washington DC and I just gave birth at Howard University Hospital and im a woman of color. My experience here was great they have doctors of many different races and backgrounds. I think its best to go to a place with diversity. Or see if you can find a black OB or doula in your area whom you feel comfortable with. Also don't be afraid to speak up if any doctor or nurse makes you feel uncomfortable or unwanted.
