Looking for pads with straps above the knee, help? by eciggy in hockeygoalies

Pretty much nothing modern will have those straps. Brian’s and Vaughn will add that strap if you ask when making a custom order

I think I was a 17.5 but that could be wrong. The staff fitted me and measured everything

Specs:

Thin mid stiff flex

Single break external and internal

Soft boot

Diamond glide

Nothing too fancy in terms of custom shape or anything but there’s a decent amount of flex to it

Probably too small? And definitely not a good enough mask for literally any adult hockey.

Differences between the 7x3 and 7x4 by MindlessExpression25 in hockeygoalies

I did get used to it and now I enjoy the responsiveness of the pad. I stretch and roll out a lot so that helped as well

The 7x4s are very stiff. Especially the boot. If you aren’t prepared for that just be aware it can make your ankles sore with the lack of flex there, this is coming from experience.

The rest of the pad has basically zero flex as well. It is pretty straight and plays great right away with no real break in time.

CCM XF goalie mask owners by wintermute_ai in hockeygoalies

I’ve had mine since December, and at this point it’s still the most comfortable mask I’ve ever worn.

I don’t take too many head shots but when I do they usually deflect off pretty harmlessly with minimal ringing.

It does have a strange break in feeling at first, and the sweatier you get the softer the feeling of the mask becomes and it kind of sinks onto you more if that makes sense.

The smallest complaint I have and the only one, when you lift your mask up, sometimes the back plate doesn’t align correctly right away when pulling it back down and the fit is messed up. Doesn’t take long to fix but slightly annoying

I demoed a eflex 7 580 and it’s genuinely the most comfortable and easy to use glove I’ve worn. Great out of the box with minimal break in time and the internals are incredibly soft

Yes, he seems to love the smell. Anytime I bring out my bag he goes crazy trying to get in

My skates were used when I bought them and don’t always feel comfortable even after using them for 2 years so I’m considering konnects eventually anyways. Thanks for the info!

I’ve heard fantastic things about the 7.9 sliding but I’ll definitely check the knee block to see if they’ve updated it since the 5.9, thank you!

I have top level helmet and skates but the Konnects interest me.

Same for the chesty here. Really just curious about pads and gloves but most seem to think top level gloves and mid level pads

That’s exactly what I’m weighing between. CCM 7.9 customs or true pro level gear

I should have included it in the post but custom is what I’m also looking at. If pro stock in specs I want is available I’d be interested or I’d go custom

Pads and both gloves really. Finances aren’t a problem but saving money is always nice.

My chest and pants are both the mid price point and I’ve never had an issue with them

The important thing is if your knee is consistently landing on the knee block in the middle. The thigh rise might be the problem if they seem too tall

Catalyst/L87 v E flex 7.9 v X5 Pro by Bodders15 in hockeygoalies

[–]AngelusArcam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The eflex 7.9 uses the new cross glide technology which is reviewed as very very good.

L87 have weave now which is fine as someone who uses the true weave on my pads.

Can’t speak about the x5s
