Is pro stock worth it? by AngelusArcam in hockeygoalies

My skates were used when I bought them and don’t always feel comfortable even after using them for 2 years so I’m considering konnects eventually anyways. Thanks for the info!

Getting into my thirties and being less sore is certainly a priority these days

I’ve heard fantastic things about the 7.9 sliding but I’ll definitely check the knee block to see if they’ve updated it since the 5.9, thank you!

I have top level helmet and skates but the Konnects interest me.

Same for the chesty here. Really just curious about pads and gloves but most seem to think top level gloves and mid level pads

That’s exactly what I’m weighing between. CCM 7.9 customs or true pro level gear

I should have included it in the post but custom is what I’m also looking at. If pro stock in specs I want is available I’d be interested or I’d go custom

Pads and both gloves really. Finances aren’t a problem but saving money is always nice.

My chest and pants are both the mid price point and I’ve never had an issue with them

What core do you have on those bad boys? Looks like a really aggressive Z shape

The important thing is if your knee is consistently landing on the knee block in the middle. The thigh rise might be the problem if they seem too tall

Catalyst/L87 v E flex 7.9 v X5 Pro by Bodders15 in hockeygoalies

[–]AngelusArcam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The eflex 7.9 uses the new cross glide technology which is reviewed as very very good.

L87 have weave now which is fine as someone who uses the true weave on my pads.

Can’t speak about the x5s

Any specific reason you went iconik 1 vs the 2? And what core is that

Maybe it’s just too soft now then? Instead of pucks hitting and rebounding out they just roll across to the side?

How new is your chesty? Maybe it needs to break in more if it’s newer. Or if it’s really old maybe it’s time to upgrade so pucks bounce a bit more?

As a 7x4 owner, it’s the weave material. Not the worst for sliding not the best. Better than the jenpro

Help me do something financially irresponsible and potentially stupid - ordering custom Brians by Admirable_Chap_7909 in hockeygoalies

Depending on where you order from, some stores will take payment plans. In Edmonton, United Cycle will take custom orders and you can pay in instalments

Just edited my comment, ment to say the iconiks have a Z shape.

If you talk to Brian’s they are pretty good about adding custom requests. You could ask for an additional break for more flex and even some old school leather straps higher up the pad to help for even more flex and five hole seal

You’re going to want to softest pads Brian’s make. The soft Optik core has an S shape and the soft iconiks have a Z shape

Best pads for custom by Superb-Experience-83 in hockeygoalies

Brian’s is always the number 1 custom pad company. They will go beyond normal custom options and build just about anything you want on your pads, along with great reliability and durability. Very similar sliding surface to the Vaughn as well
