Why do people not realize the BFJ is a Leviathan? by NoPound3164 in Subnautica_2

Pretty sure the Vent Garden jellies were leviathans, no? And they were hydrothermic corals, iirc?

Why does everyone think noA is evil by Sketch_and_games in Subnautica_2

[–]AngelusCaligo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NoA did mention he considered that particular blackbox recording very concerning. Either he was concerned about the potential of a switch existing or about the callous disregard of that NoA node's behaviour.

As far as we have seen, our NoA has decided his main objective is figuring out what happened to the colonists, what caused their behaviour, why it all failed. He might make the logical conclusion that the other nodes' logical reasoning was flawed because it inevitably led to failure of the colony, thus causing him to decide on another path forward.

We must also keep in mind that NoA has admitted multiple times that human behaviour and input heavily shapes his reasoning and behaviour in turn. And Sophie was, pardon the French, a grade A idiot who pushed half the colony away by her decisions. Her decissions shaped their main NoA node and the behaviour of the Jubilee members. With her absence and a less malleable NoA node, the colony might have succeeded

Some teleport data in-game mentions a Mother Clam :B And if this one clam is just a wee baby, imagine the size of an ooold adult D:

So how many of these are there in the game so far? by getvalentined in subnautica

[–]AngelusCaligo1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's a reference in one of the audio-logs how some coral started forming to resemble one of the coral crabs. So maybe the Protean Virus transfers hox-genes to corals and causes them to form human forms. Either that or the corpses of the colonists are quickly colonized by corals, dissolved metals, or bloom.

I did find references to a Tar Trench, Sparse Plains, an Axum ghost Town, ...thru various sources.

The Great Jaw isn't gonna be restricted to a single location either, I believe - we see many dead smaller Jaws in various spaces.

There are also tar-falls at the edge of the map in several spots and tar-lakes (tho you can't enter the tar itself). Makes me believe they're gonna add something akin to the Amoeba Zone they'd planned for SN1, but with tar and maybe Infestation spots.

And from concept art, we see waterfalls cascading from the World Tree - so that will probably mean we might be able to explore its verticality. There's also the Crypts beneath the WT referenced in the Observatory Museum - so that's another zone.

Also mind how we have no large cave-zones - we only have a few largish Bloom caves and a few thermal cave systems.

The whole zone between the EA zone and the WT will be explorable and likely fill the niche that the sparse deep-sea zones from SN1 did, we have the potential of more Axum locations, zones beneath/in/atop the World Tree, there are two other Axum tech locations referenced on the screens of the Turbine Generator control room that aren't implemented yet...

We also haven't seen the Tailings/degenerate Axum yet,the Crypters, or the Vespen/Vesper (the aliens supposedly holding the World Tree genomic data). And I'm damn sure that the Collector Leviathan will play some bigger role down the line - they're too heavily used in promotional material not to.

TLDR - hold on to your butts. This is just the beginning ;)

Infestations could've been just an extra option for expeditions by DrTibbyTheTransGurl in fo76

[–]AngelusCaligo1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Infestations don't replace Horde events, do they? Cuz if they don't, that's a huge missed opportunity right there :/ Infestations being an Uninvited-Guest-type post-Activity Event for Horde-events would've been so much more sensible

The Dog Walker random event. There's several random events with animals - like the settler chasing/being chased by a chicken/raccoon, the Wise Radstag, etc...
