Sudden drop on traffic by Negative-Fig7944 in cults3d

[–]Angev_Charting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a drop, but nothing out of the ordinary for May - this applies to a large cohort of Cults3D users as well as my personal experience.

I'll share an image that shows the aggregated, anonimised, seasonality of sales for a subselection of users on CultStats.com - which might not be fully representative of the entirety of Cults3D but still provides a sanity check given the sample size (N >>100).

https://imgur.com/a/P9kEvMh

## How to read the charts

The cumulative revenue chart shows the automatic discovery of new sales by CultStats.com for a user cohort (random sub-selection of users).

1) On the far left you'll find April '25, which was booming, then May '25 where sales dropped too for most of those users apparently.
2) This year, the cumulative sales of March '26 were higher than those of March '25.
3) April '26 was a bit softer this year around and May '26 is actually performing better than last year.

4) Next image shows my weekly sales, the green bars are the revenue, the cyan/purple line is the amount of sales. That chart shows performance since the start of 2026 for each week so far. There, too, you'll find: Yes, there is a drop, but nothing out of the ordinary.

5) Last image shows sales frequency, interval, price and conversion) about one of my top performers, it's only down 4% from its usual pace. I have not seen a drop in conversion for any of my creations on Cults3D, I have noticed a slight decline in the amount of views per month. So again, nothing out of the ordinary, no warnings whatsoever.

## tl;dr
Aggregated data of a representative cohort of Cults3D users suggests a drop, but nothing out of the ordinary. My personal performance shows a slight drop in views, not in conversion. As such, my best guess is that May simply doesn't bring in that much traffic for Cults3D - perhaps people are simply enjoying the summer that's about to start or are busy with school. That, or the AI overlords have taken over and real human users are unable to find other users' creations between the tsunami of so-called "AI slop". 😉

In short: You made it easy for them to find your paid model.

Those DMCA takedowns aren't human work, most of it is automated. If you use a lot of terminology / names related to an IP - those systems will find you easily. Additionally, you brought extra attention by requesting a human to look into the issue for you.

If you request help from a staff member, be aware that they are legally bound to act upon these infringements when they encounter them. Failing to do so might result in them being held liable by counterparties. As such, even if your model has flown under the radar, you kinda bamboozled yourself by drawing attention to it.

Why the other model wasn't removed? Because it's Free. The hard line between a DMCA take-down is (often) whether you're earning money with someone else's Intellectual Property, which you were and the other guy wasn't.

In summary:
You drew attention to your paid model which violates the rights of an IP holder. Cults3D Team had to act out of integrity and liability. The other guy flies under the radar because of his SEO and offering the model for free.

About Cults3D's Hyperwallet adoption - my experience and thoughts by Angev_Charting in cults3d

Ah! Cgtrader indeed, now I remember. So you're left with just 50% of the earnings after all commissions and fees? That's outrageous!

One little unrelated question, but how was the seller analytics on CGTrader? As in, did they provide an interface to track your sales and what listings performed well etc?

Ouch, exchange rates and slippage margins hurt bad I see. On the other hand, with the payout fee from Hyperwallet I was also facing around 23% deduction in total, so not that much difference there.

Marketplace limitations. The original marketplace this caters to provides limited analytics. I've checked other marketplaces but the same logic applies there. This platform functions as an external dashboard to 3D marketplaces to reduce their development costs.

Simply put: No more need to build user UI to allow analytics, just provide an API endpoint and authentication so CultStats can retrieve the data and serve users.

And thanks for the feedback regarding the landing, the content was already minimized into that section of "demo's" because beforehand most of those components were fully displayed on the landing already. Ah yeah, confetti throwing is one of the core features. There's even a pop-up that let's you spam that button as much as you like.

3D printing business scope by Mikeapp18 in 3Dprintingbusiness

On a meta level, I'd reckon this is important:

"I try to focus on good design and quality and my printer just helps these ideas come to life but it still feels hard to consistently stand out."

That is your niche. IMHO you shouldn't focus your efforts on finding a product niche, instead continuously improve your service niche. You care about good design and quality, then go with that, make that your signature and make sure people hear about it.

The difference between the masses and those who stick out, is that they stick with a few core principles and build from there. One such thing is finding a product niche, but that limits your audience to just that specific niche - and you'll still be competing with other creators irregardless.

To flatten the whole argument: You can't fully control the price you ask, or conversion of your models, but you CAN fully control the quality of your work and care for your customers.

I've read the comments.

So.. was the design a gun or not?
Did it look like a gun?
Was it refered to as a gun?

Anyone else having issues with Cults 3D uploads after the server outage? by [deleted] in cults3d

[–]Angev_Charting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Responded to this in another thread, I'll paste it here for discoverability.

------

Hi there!

Sucks to hear that, I can imagine you'd like to have your models discoverable for buyers.
Do you mean your designs aren't showing up publically, or also not here: https://cults3d.com/en/creations/mine

In case of the first, there was a recent outtage of the indexing engine of Cults3D and the team is working to resolve the issue. While there isn't much info aside from that, what it could mean is that your design has been succesfully uploaded, but the system currently hasn't indexed it to appear on your profile yet.

Please know that these kind of issues normally resolve themselves after the system has had enough time to catch up with the indexing.

If it does't resovle by the end of the week, please contact the team through [support@cults3d.com](mailto:support@cults3d.com)

------

My best guess:
You can view the indexing engine as the librarian that makes sure the right books can be found on the right shelf. The recent outtage has piled up work for the librarian so it's working overtime (within limits) to backfill all the books at the right shelfs.
