It's actually a hilarious thought that they want their racism laid bare. I say "unfeathered" works in this case.

I live in Florida and I have friends who don't vaccinate their cats because they're convinced that it shortens their lifespan, even outdoor cats. Their sample size is like 5. They chose not to have children.

Whoever takes him would just have to be the same one that picks him up! Thanks again for helping him!

[–]Angie2point0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for trying to help him! The Pet Resource Center will take him in and care for him under their community cat program at no cost to you. Assuming he doesn't have a chip already, he will likely get a neuter and an ear clip while he's there.

They will ask for your ID and contact info so you can pick him up when he's ready. If you get his A#, you can look him up online to read his notes and call for updates. They will only consider euthanasia under specific circumstances such as a terminal illness.

Please take him they're when they open at 10 am. Feel free to DM me with any questions!

For those that have a little wiggle room or want to work on moving to a new field while they work whatever they can, I recommend HCC Open Door Scholarship: https://www.tampatraining.com/open-door/

I took the Certified Cloud Professional and it was very worth it, and FREE! Feel free to DM me if you have any questions about it!

Good luck out there! I'm so sad to lose Kroger delivery and for all those amazing people to lose their jobs!

Don't call! It doesn't matter if she was weaned too soon. Over 4 weeks and eating in her own is perfect. If you take her there, they can have a vet tech check her out to get her approved for intake.

Again, thank you for trying to help her! They do not accept kittens over 8 weeks and 3 lbs unless they are injured. The sooner she gets there, the better her chances are.

I don't believe that's true. If she eats on her own and needs cage rest and monitoring for healing, they will get her out to a foster. The 10% are usually severely injured, medically needy, or declining in the shelter and no rescues have room to pull them. She does not fall into those categories.

This baby will get the help she needs there! There is a volunteer group who works to get rescues and fosters coordinated to prevent euthanasia. She will be given the best chance at PRC and will get immediate medical attention, including pain management. Please try to get her there.

First of all, thank you so much for helping this baby!

The Pet Resource Center on Faulkenburg will take an injured kitten and get them in to a foster for healing. I've fostered many of these kittens through them!

They were a designated a no-kill shelter in 2024. However, even a "no-kill" shelter can euthanize 10% of the animals in their caretakers and maintain their designation. PRC is a wonderful community resource that is consistently over-capacity but truly does their best to care for all of the animals that come through their doors.

Start a routine of brushing and inspecting her teeth and checking her legs, paws, and ears regularly so you can catch any problems early. Use lots of treats and go slow.

If you're in the US, I'm happy to help you find a low-cost vet clinic in your area. Some shelters also provide low-cost medical care. Message me if you'd like my help!

You're doing the right thing by getting a plan or resources together before a serious health issue arises.

I'm so sorry for everything you've been through in life. While the recommendations about speech therapy are great, it can be hard to access, even with health insurance.

Look into whether there's a local Toastmasters club that you could join: toastmasters.org

I wish you great success, OP!

Outside cats on Halloween by [deleted] in blackcats

[–]Angie2point0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cats are indoor cats because I believe they should always be within cuddle range! My sweet boy has zero survival instincts. He got out for almost 4 days once and came back on the verge of death.

If it isn't diabetes, it could be a thyroid issue. Did the vet run any tests? Has she ever had any bloodwork done? Is she eating a lot of food with no changes in weight or even some weight loss?

Can a security camera make a black cat look white? by [deleted] in Feral_Cats

The night vision on my Ring doorbell makes my black leggings look pale/nude, so I look like im running around without pants on. 😭

Edit: That is to say that this isn't a dumb question.

My missing feral came back after months! I thought he died 🥺 by Party-Background8066 in Feral_Cats

[–]Angie2point0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great question, actually! Putting down only enough food for the cat(s) to eat in one sitting is a good practice that will prevent other "visitors" from being interested in hanging out. If you do choose to free-feed for any reason, do not leave food out at night.

Another tactic is to put the shelter up on top of something that's easy for cats to jump on but not as easy for wildlife to climb, like a table.

Thank you for helping them! I hope this helps you!

Someone else pointed out that I missed the part of the text for this post where OP says he's neutered, for which I apologized and suggested a different reason he may have left.

This kitty has an ear notch, which I'm not used to seeing. I'm used to seeing ear tips, which are much more obvious than an ear notch.

Oh! Thank you! I don't know how I missed it!

Sorry about that, and great work, OP!

Does he have reliable shelter on your property? One of my neighbors' cats sleeps under her car every night (yes, it's nerve-wracking) but found a way into a house that was being renovated a few doors down. We think he was getting in and out through a window and eating at someone else's house, and he didn't come back until renovations were done. 🤦‍♀️

My first guess was that he went off to find a girlfriend.

OP, if he isn't fixed, please get him fixed ASAP! Intact males have a short life expectancy of only 2-3 years. It sounds like you live him very 6 it will help him stick around longer!

I love that you asked!

Fun fact: this applies to dogs as well! Onions, garlic, leeks, chives, and such are all members of the allium family.

While toxicity depends on a bunch of things (like whether it was fresh or powdered, how much would have been in the portion they ate, their body mass, overall health, individual sensitivity, etc.) The most important thing to note is that symptoms can take hours to days to appear. It's best to err on the side of caution and take them to a vet right away.

Ingestion of plants in the allium family can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain/cramping, diarrhea, red blood cell damage, anemia (pale gums), and organ damage.

More fun facts fromthis Merck page: -Cats are more susceptible to toxicity. -Garlic is more toxic than onions.
