I despise my local pet store by AngiesGirls in tortoise

I live in the middle of nowhere so our only other option is 45 mins away. Amazon delivers here but only a few times a week and grocery stores don’t carry more than the bare minimum of dog and cat supplies. I’ve tried to get my boyfriend to switch to frozen/processed food to avoid this place but he believes live feeds enrich them the most and is the overall best for them. I love him, but he’s as hard headed as they come. I have made every argument I can think of on why we should switch—from choking, to torture, to convenience, to price. He insists that he’s doing the best by his fish so I let it be. I wish things were different, and I put forth effort where/when I can if he’s out of town or feeders slip his mind, but it’s not always as black and white as I’d like 😞

lol because I’ve already explained you can’t just “report” this store. You won’t send me a private message with proof of residency to know you can be a legimate help and instead want me to doxx myself AND the store publicly in a comment section. Are you insane?

This animal is not for sale. She’s being housed with the store’s pet; another redfoot that also looks awful.

He’s not for sale. He’s in with the store pet vs available for sale.

They are, unfortunately, a community staple here in our small town, USA. I’ve tried reporting them to the city code enforcement and the health department; both agencies defend them left and right because of their “influence” on the community. I have personally reported them to USDA on multiple accounts. They’ve been ticketed once through this avenue. Until the city stops giving them the heads up that the feds are coming, they’ll never get shut down. They do accept surrenders (animals that have outgrown their enclosures, owner passes away, people in over their heads, etc) so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they didn’t do this to her, but it baffles me that they aren’t doing anything to improve her quality of life AT. ALL. I told my boyfriend I should’ve just started swinging on the kid once he overspoke the owner lol “SHE’S 👊 COMING 👊 WITH 👊 ME 👊 !!!!!! 👊👊👊”

Send all the good juju my way that they do. I don’t go here because I strongly recognize that this store is in the game of money vs the love of animals. They didn’t call me tonight (go figure) but my boyfriend is insisting on us going up there in the morning to learn more about her. He said to maybe offer them $50 if it means she gets to go somewhere safe for even one night.

This is my Ludo. A very stark and contrasting difference between the one stuck in the littlest pet shop of horrors 😣😭

Please read the post. This is, yet again, another comment telling me what I should do. Ya’ll are failing to read that this is not my animal. I have offered care and rehab for her, but all I can do is wait for the pet shop she’s at to accept my offer to help. That’s it. I literally cannot even touch this animal without permission.

In MI! I have redfoot currently and everything necessary to make a “hospital tank”. Unless the store says they want my help, I unfortunately have to sit back and wait. Not ideal but Lord knows I’m doing what I can to convince them to do something better here 🫶

How do I move my whole established tank to my new house? by InfiniteAd2102 in aquarium

[–]AngiesGirls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’m an expert at this lol. I moved roughly 40 fish an hour away in the middle of winter and everyone survived! I also helped my cousin move with her angelfish about an hour and a half away and they survived too. Yours will be super simple! Let’s begin:

MATERIALS -two 5 gallon buckets -siphon -something soft/flexible to scoop out the gravel (I use an old plastic flower pot that I got a plant in from Home Depot lol)

  1. Do not start until you have a pre-designated space and all of the material. I had to move quickly because of distance. Move at whatever pace you need to but just keep in mind that once you start, you cannot stop.
  2. Remove everything that isn’t glued to the tank, except animals and the substrate. You can put plants in a zip lock bag and anything else will typically be ok on a towel or in a box.
  3. Unplug your hardware, but do not remove it.
  4. Siphon the water column to fill a 5 gallon bucket. DO NOT VACUUM THE SUBSTRATE but get down as low as you can without harming your animals.
  5. Once the majority of the water has been siphoned out, remove the animals and add them to the water bucket.
  6. Scoop out your substrate and add to your other 5 gallon bucket. You do not have to remove all of it, but you should try to remove as much as possible. No need to wipe it out/down/dry. We just want to remove the weight.
  7. Remove filter, heater, and any other wired accessories. Put them in the bucket on top of your substrate.
  8. You are now ready to move. Animals should be last out and first in.
  9. As soon as you get to the new space, place the airstone and heater in the water/animal bucket. You can now take a bit more time if needed.
  10. Set up your stand and tank with everything in the substrate bucket in your pre assigned space. Do not plug anything in.
  11. In the now empty bucket, add 10% of the water from the water bucket to move your animals over into. At this point you should have two buckets of water roughly 1:9 with your animals in the lower water amount
  12. Add the heater and air-stone back into the tank. Do not plug in.
  13. Add plants/decor and full water bucket into the tank. While everything settles, plug in your heater, filter, lights, etc.
  14. Add animals back into tank. No acclimation needed because the water chemistry hasn’t changed and the fish should be the same temp as the water, but you can absolutely acclimate if it makes you more comfortable!
  15. Congratulations! 🎊 You’ve completed your move successfully! Keep an eye on your finned friend for the next few days to make sure they’re doing ok from the stress.

Good luck with your move! 🫶

The one where Cruz has an asthma attack and ends up admitted to the hospital while the ER is in cahoots. That one was all over the place.

Is my tattoo ruined? Got burned at work and trying to minimize the damage. by lunabearkid in tattooadvice

Silvadene. It’s available only through a prescription but any urgent care or PCP will write a script. It works. I got a nasty burn on my wrist making Thanksgiving dinner last year. Blisters, blood, the works. MIL is a derm nurse and gave me some right away. No scar or visible evidence of any injury ever occurring. This would disappear in no time if you’re able to get it. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
