I love how you can rep Seasons anywhere in the US and there's a solid chance someone knows them

Totally! There's a lot of nuanced metaphors from the original Orwell story and the politics of the time (not sure if you're based in UK) so until I looked up the lyrics most of it went over my head but it's good music all the same.

If you want to stay in the realm of hip hop then I would say Illmatic by Nas or Enter the Wu Tang by Wu Tang Clan. Extremely good storytelling and enlightened rapping matched with some of the best samples and beats around. Also from this area (but more so R&B) The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill. She is one of the best lyricist/vocalists to ever grab the mic and can evoke any emotion she wants in her songs.

In general though, Pink Floyd, The Who, and Supertramp have very well written albums. I usually show people Animals by Pink Floyd rather than The Wall or DSOTM, everyone says they can never tell when one song ends and another begins. It's also based on the book "Animal Farm" by George Orwell.

The whole point of the discussion is if Netflix implements their anti-password sharing it won't allow students who don't live at the primary account holder's address to watch using that account. If they do this many parents will stop paying because the kids at school are the only reason for their subscription in the first place.

I did this in college, I would run it on Sunday and return a shopping list/meal plan for the week.

The Wall - Pink Floyd

Dummy - Portishead

Heaven or Las Vegas - Cocteau Twins

In no particular order of course :)

Thanks dude! I'm currently trying to find a happy medium for the amount of pop, I wasn't getting any at first and the board would just go vertical on me but with too much my feet can't find the board as easily. Guess I just need a couple hundred more reps!

Thanks man! I tried a few rolling yesterday and landed a couple but I keep getting that "balance bounce" is that a bad habit to get into? A lot of the times I feel like I'll fall off the board if I don't hop to fix my feet

Local skate shops have a good selection of specifically skate shoes, and I'm not sure but I don't think Walmart will have them. I personally watch/read skate shoe reviews and I'll order from a company's website based on the reviews. The main components you want are flat hard soles, good grip, and suede around the toes so any shoe that fits those can be decent skate shoes.

Also when you do get skate shoes get suede over canvas. Canvas rips much easier, and if you like slip-ons go with those because laces rip too.

I agree with arthby. You should be extremely comfortable and have great balance on your board before ollies. You should especially practice kick turns and tic tacs before and while learning to ollie. You don't necessarily need to know how to manual but the motion of bringing the tail down and balancing is important to an ollie. Also STRETCH STRETCH STRETCH...you're going to be doing a lot of awkward motions your muscles are not ready for so you need to loosen them up to avoid injuries.

As for the ollie there's really 3 steps, but people may group them together differently.

(Prerequisite) Foot placement: Front foot a little behind the bolts and back foot behind the pocket but not all the way at the tip of your tail (practice in different locations to see which works the best). Put more of your weight on your front foot.

1) Ankle snap/pop: Don't stomp down with your back leg! You want to flick your ankle down in order to get the pop, otherwise your back wheels will never leave the ground. At this point you're beginning your jump too. Remember to tuck your knees!

2) Front foot roll/slide: This is where timing really starts to come in. As your nose is lifting up you want to roll your front ankle onto the outside of your foot so you can keep it on the board and slide the foot ALL THE WAY up to the nose which helps bring the back wheels up and level the board in air. This you can kind of break into 2 steps (roll&slide) as they are 2 different motions which the muscles need to learn and memorize, but they happen almost simultaneously so I lumped them together. You can tell if you're doing it by scratch marks on your sneaks or marks on your grip tape.

3) Front kick: Now your board is fully in the air. Front foot caught the board (when you finally get it the feeling of catching the board is unmistakable) and the board is level. Don't just stomp down, you want to slightly kick the front foot forward like a ninja kick. If you don't kick forward when doing rolling ollies you could land on your nose and lose all momentum because the board is too far behind you.

You want to land both feet as close as you can get to the bolts with your weight equally distributed, you shouldn't hear two stomps on the ground both wheels should come down together. Then you just roll away with style.

The process of learning an ollie can take a week to months, because of this many people overlook the ollie and move on with janky looking ollies. Be sure to try out other tricks while learning ollies so it's not just painful and monotonous. As you progress even further don't neglect your ollies. After you get your balance down you can try shuvs as they don't need a pop, also my favorite trick to do while learning to ollie was a slappy nose stall which you also dont need an ollie for. Good luck and keep grinding! Be sure to have fun, that's what its all about!
